Starting to grow with LED’s could use advice PLEASE.

So I’m planning to start growing with LED’s after becoming sick and tired of battling with the heat. I plan to buy a 1000watt light board but idk if it will be broad enough for my grow. It’s not huge at all just 2x5x6 usually only 3 plants. So what do you LED experts think, think I could get away with just 1? Here’s a link to the light board I’m ordering.

Also does anybody know the difference between “cob-X5” 1000W and the 1000W B?

I've posted this before in the LED thread but I think it's worth repeating.

You better off forgetting what the manufacturer/s claimed the 'equivalent wattage' or you're going to be very disappointed.

The link to the light you provided only draws 180-200 'true watts'. So, basically in a 2x5 area, you're only providing 20 watts per sq ft at most. Not to mention the light fall off at the long side of 2x5. Ideally, you want 50 watts per sq ft minimum, an LED that draws 500 or more true watts or you might get away with 2 of that light.

Dont fall into that 1000 watts bullshit claim. This is where LED got a bad rep because people expect 1000 watts when its not.

What Xs121 said is so true. If it pulls 200 watts from the wall the output will be less than 200 watts of light because of system losses. Even if the system were able to defy physics and be 100% efficient at converting electrical energy to luminous energy it still can't CREATE energy.

Short story... stay the hell away from the cheap blurple lights or you will be disappointed.
 
Or DIY with four of the F Series Gen3 double row 4' led strips wired parallel with an HLG-480H-48A driver for about 475 watts. Cost of components is around $320. If you don't have fab skills you def won't go wrong with the Quantum board builds. Those guys make some very nice stuff.
