Starting Seeds Indoor; Question on timing for transplant

I'm planning on getting a T5 8 or 12 bulb set to grow my plants indoors for a period of time before transplanting them outdoors in May/June.

Question is when I should start my seeds. I have a a variety of seeds ( about 20) that I want to see if there is any benefit in starting them in January or wait till 2 months before I transplant, say March. I don't know if the additional 2-3 months of vegging will make them grow better once transplanted.

you need to school yourself on local weather patterns and find out when the average last frost is and plant your seeds accordingly. good luck
