Starting seeds for aeroponics system, no medium?

Hi. I have searched and came across a few existing threads on this but didn't find a clear enough answer i suppose. I haven't started yet but I'm using stinkbuds system, his cloner, his vegging and his stinkbud Sr. set up. My question is, after germinating the seed, how do you set it to become a seedling? I know people have just tried holding the seed in the neoprene inserts but they soon died. I read also people start usually with rockwool, but how to you transfer the rockwool to the cloner if they are held in by inserts? do i use slightly large rockwool cubes and snug fit it into the circles on the tub's lid until the first grow is up, then take clones from that vegging plant to start with true aeroponics, or am i going to have to set up another station for growing with net pots and regular hydro?

quick edit : Also I read something quickly about starting them in perlite, than brushing the perlite off the roots when they are ready to veg, but I think that was on a general gardening site for peppers. plausible?
