hey everyone just had a quick question here...I got a 75w flouro tube that I found that I was going to use strictly to get the seedlings up and out of the ground before I put them under an HID..basically my question is...will the 75w fluoro be strong enough for sprouting five seeds??? IDK the lumen value of it but I though I'd see what everyone thinks...Thanx Comments Appreciated

awesome thanks 007...I only plan to keep it under the fluoro until I get some leaf structure then I'm going to put them under my MH....for the fluoro 2in from the top of the soil will be okay right??(I'm pretty sure that s okay just looking for reassurance)

if the seeds have not sprouted you don't need to have the light 2 inches from the soil.. It can be 6 inches or even 10 inches.... make sure our soil is moist.. not muddy... not dry....

its equivalent to 75w....the soil has a good moisture level not dry but not overly wet either as you said Knowm....would moving the light further away help the sprouting process?? Is there a particular distance that does better than others for this wattage???

I was just concerned that the young plant may sprout and touch the light or dry the soil/seed.

:)

Try and get a 42 watt CFL (150 watt equivelant) - HOME DEPOT

Quick question : I am only able to find 26w CFLs around my area. Was thinking of setting up 4 to six 24 watt CFLs for grow area of 4 feet x 1.5 feet.

Yes Walmart and Home depot have these 42/150 watt bulbs for 8-10 dollars..

CFLs are really only effective at about
2-20 inches for cloning plants,
less than 4 inches from vegging plant and
less than 2 inches from flowering plant

Imagine this -

If you had a plant that was 10 inches tall and you flowered it, it would probably grow to 20 inches in 10-20 days after 12/12 is induced. Now you would need to surround this plant in CFLs if you want it to give GREAT buds. You would need side ligting as well as top lighting because CFLs are only effective when they are less than 2 inches from a flowering plant.

Now of course you could grow a plant with one CFL that is 20 inches tall. BUT it will yield less than 1/8. If you surround the plant with 4-6 bulbs, you will get at least 2-4 ounces..
