Southern Growers "Help its Hot"

I am growing in a 3'x3'x8' hydrohut and having to do all kinds of crazy shit to keep the heat within good range 65 -75 F i have 5000 Btu's of ac piped in via 6" duct and one intake and one exhaust fan 200 cfm in 250 cfm out.
I am running a 400watt HPS with a 6" cooltube with a 180 cfm fan pulling room temp (outside of tent) thru it. I am curious as to what all you southern growers use to control the heat and humidity. I am thinking that getting out of the tent and using the whole room might help due to more area and airspace to allow the heat to dissipate better and keep the AC unit from cycling so much. Even if i use the whole room the grow will remain small 6 girls as this meets my needs.
Any suggestions, comments or opinions will be greatly appreciated as this is only my second crop and i am still learning and trying to tweak my setup A+ rep for advice that works.

Deep south here, are you in heated and a/c space or in the basement/garage with no heat, a/c? What is your room temp and what is the tent temp when the lights are out?

i went to bigger room. my set is way bigger so i use commercial air. i bring in cool air thru the lights and out of the room as well as regular a/c into room. i also use a dehumdifier keeps me below 50%. tents are to small to try an cool efficiently imo. good luck!!

Are trying to get it down to 65 at night? That is going to be a hard feat to accomplish in such a small enclosed space, especially south of the Mason-Dixon. Can you open up one side of your hut? I'm fighting the same battle as you, I'm just trying to keep mine below 85 during the day.

I am getting 65 -66 degrees with lights out it is the lights on temps that get me. I think i am going to have to come out of the tent or crank up the ventilation to about 400 cfm in/out and light. Thanks for the input. damn southern heat.

I am thinking that its gonna be by to the tent i thought having the smaller space would be easy to cool and ventilate, but it seems the opposite due to the heat build up of the HPS.
Thanks for the opinion.

I am in a central AC/HEAT controlled room room temps average 68 F in winter 78 F in summer, lights out temps are good with average 65-66 F. I think i just need to increase the light ventilation and tent vetilation gotta pull more heat out of light and tent, dont really want to come out of the tent but may have to.

How hot is it getting with the lights on? I assume you have an oscillating fan going in the tent as well. An increase in exhaust should help by a few degree's, but not much. Pulling more air through the cooltube I would think would help a little bit too, but I don't know, I've know experience with them. Good luck, keep us posted.

I Increased light cooling to 465 CFM and yes i was running an oscillating fan i turned it up to high aimed it at a little more upward angle and opened a second flap. My temps are now 71 F max lights on and 66 F lights off i think the girls are gonna be happy. Thanks to all for the input.

Glad to hear that you got that worked out, don't take off the thinking cap. Spring is right around the corner and when the wonderful southern summer weather gets here you will have to work on this again.
