Some basic questions about lights/grow tent/seed selction

Hi guys,

I'm planning a grow op this summer and have a few questions... I've already grown a few Lowryders (yes, was tight on space) a couple of years ago with CFLs but would like to use HIDs this time and make it a more advanced set-up.


1) How many plants (approx) fit in a 75x75x160cm grow tent ?

2) Will a 600W lighting system be too powerful for such a grow tent ? (I am planning on getting several fans + an extractor fan and carbon filter)

3) Is a dual spectrum bulb adequate for growing or is it really worth the extra cash spent on a MH bulb and a HPS bulb ?

4) Does anybody have recommendation as to feminized, non-autoflowering, moderately priced, high-yielding, seeds that aren't too difficult to grow ?

5) Would you recommend germinating several seeds and grow several plants in the grow box OR germinate one seed, grow the plant, and make clones, to produce a SOG ?

6) What would the timespan from germination to harvest typically be ?

7) Finally, this may seem like a stupid question, but can the flowering phase theoretically be triggered at any time during the vegetative phase ?

My advice would be to do alot of research. Their are so many diffrent strains with diffrent specifications its all personal opinion and what type of grow your going for

i would reccomend 2 or 3 diffrent strains and keeping mother plants in a seperate tent, taking clones and picking which you like the most and occasionaly trying diffrent strains

Depends on the strain and how long u veg the plant but normally about 4.5 to 5 months

Yes it can be triggered at any time...as long as the plant is mature enough. but triggering it to early can cost you yeild

1 5 or 6
2 600w is more than enought but make sure ur exhaust can get rid of the heat when its zipped up
3dual spectrum is ok but mh and hps are better. Mh vegges with the nodes closer together esp 125w cfl 6500k
4 feminized are ideal that way u dont have to worry about killing males. Dr greenthumb hasnt done me wrong yet
5if ur positive they are females u can clone in veg stage and u wont have to sex them and revert back to veg saves 6weeks
6 hard to say. depends on strain and how long u veg. flower is usually 60days give or take a week and veg can be 2 or 8 weeks
7 NO u cant flower during veg stage because it is 2 different light spectrums... if u switch a blue spectum bulb to 12/12 maybe it will showe sex eventually but u need RED spectrum to flower
