I've been looking for a way to power a hydro-system + lights using some other means of electricity than my house. It will be a while before I can actually grow indoors, so I can't provide you with any info on how much power I need. ANybody know how I can power my stuff without it going on my power bill??

I just looked into this, I found a bunch of info searching "installing solar panels" on u tube.
If I remember correctly it would take 3 panels about 3 foot square to generate enough stored power in four or five deep cell batteries and with an inverter would run 250 watts for ten hours.

I am going to change from HID to LED and try it. If I get what I want the next step will be solar.

Good luck.

This miht interest you guys... Now the price tag on it is not what im looking at..the reflector and the globe are what im looking at. The leds can all be replaced by appropriate coloured ones and you hav a pre built hid lamp with leds PERFECT for a pc case grow.

I wonder what a replacement globe would cost. With something like this you could run your grow off solar power or battery EASILY. If you could get a replacement globe for like $50 that would b awesome...just run it off a car battery along with some pc fans and stuff, and have a solar battery charge to charge the battery during the day..
