Soil Vs. Hydro (frist grow attempt) HELP!!!!!!!!

i decided as my first grow to do an experiment. which was SOIL VS. HYDRO. :)
the first week the soil seemed to have been kicking hydro's ass. however during the second week the hydro plant has gotten A LOT of growth while the soil one seems to be getting little growth. btw im only on day 15 of this grow. for my soil setup i am using a small pot with drainage, coco as medium, and miracle grow feeding sticks you stick into the medium. for the hydro i am using plain pH'ed water no nutes with an airstone (DWC). i am doing a cfl grow and i have 1 24w 2700k,2 19w 2700k, and 1 24w 6500k. however i encountered a problem with my soil plant, it has 3 sets of leaves including the round ones and the 4th set is starting to come in. i was wondering if this growth is normal. Also ive noticed that third set of leaves ( has 3 points) has been drooping. no other leavees except that one. any input will be greatly appreciated and this thread will be daily updated on my status and pictures will be uploaded soon. :weed::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

I'm seeing alot of issues with your grow plan.

MG grow sticks are possibly the worst thing you can use for pot and I'll tell you why. their inconsistent with their fert production and completely H2O dependent. With gravity working against you your looking at water collecting the nutes from the stick and then promptly draining out with all nutes resulting in a much slower growth rate.

With your hydro set up your feeding your plant water and while water is vital, it's main purpose is to transport nutrients and since your not feeding your plant anything but water your plant will starve to death eventually.

My best recomendation is to buy a liquid fertilizer and feed your soil plant that instead of MG sticks.

I should mention that I do not use coco coir or hydroponics so I may not be the best source of information for you to use. My knowledge on this topic is book gained.
