Im just trying to grow my first plant as a little fun side thing and if it works out i might get more into it. but the way im trying to grow this first plant is by germinating it and planting it in soil then puttin out on my roof during the light hours of the day so it can grow. i know you shouldnt water every day but the soil dries up sooo fast and gets so hard that i dont see how the plant could sprout through it. any Suddgestions?

Dont put it out in the sun until it sprouts and grows some. Start the seeds indoors. They dont need much light at all to get sprouted. Then give them indirect sunlight until they grow their first set of real leaves. Then you build it up to full sunlight.

until it's above ground, it needs no light, just keep it warm. sounds like you need to add perlite to the soil for aeration and to keep soil from compacting.

You didn't use potting soil did you?
If you didn't use good soil you're in for a disappointment I'm afraid.
For a soil grow you should always start with a good potting soil with about 25% pearlite. And make sure the pot has adaquate holes in the bottom for drainage.
