Soil on the balcony whole winter

I have soil that is all winter on balcony and temperatures goes - 10...
Is that soil still a live
It is good quality so dont want to throw it if I can use it

I just brought a tote of soil that had sat outside for a few winter months, not quite that cold though. I let it warm up for a few days, added a little fresh castings and a sprinkle of kelp, then let it sit for another week. although I'm not growing mj at the moment, I planted some clover and kale it. everything seems to be doing just fine.

not an expert by any means, but figure all soil survives winter with plenty of life in it for the next spring, so I assume you'd be ok just letting it warm up. adding some castings or hitting it with a tea before planting would probably kick start it just fine.

hopefully someone with some more experience can steer you in a better way if I'm off In my assumptions though.

yeah the soil is fine. just let it get up to temp for a week or two before using. as above poster mentioned, a compost tea wouldn't hurt it (i would just do a compost extract, just rinse a couple pounds of quality compost with a strainer and plain water, maybe a gallon or so, and use the rinse water as a compost tea . should only need one. malted barley would also help it out alot, sugars and enzymes for days!
