Soil grow - How important is it to add nutrients?

I'm just learning how to manage the PH.

Are nutrients 100% necessary?

short answer no.

but without them your plant will generally suffer deficiencies and yield will be less possibly cause death.

some soils you can buy have between 2 weeks nutrients to 6months of nutrients.

where as other soils/mediums have zero nutrients these are generally called soiless mixes.

Well of course you could grow without them but your plant needs alot of food to stay healthy and grow as big and potent as possible.I would give it some nutrients.
