I Am a total noob when it comes to growing. This is my first time since 10 years ago when I had an outdoor plant. I have germinated 10 seeds from amsterdam in a cup of water. When the seeds cracked, I planted then in a soil mixture inside of peat cups. Mixture is 4-1-1 Potting soil - Perlite - Vermiculite, Also organic fertilizer was added. Once I planted the seeds, I kept the soil moist by spritzing with water, and keeping them in darkness. Most of the seedlings have sprouted through the soil, and are showing the remnants of the seed case. one has broken away from the seed shell, but refuses to open its cotyldon leaves. The light is 2 cfl screw twisty kind with 120watts equivalent. The lights were 2 inches away from the plants. I also kept fans near the seedlings. THe problem seems to be thsat the soil is too dry. I spritz the top layer with water, but it becomes dry very quikly. I have thermometer at soil level. Temp is 80 degrees. It has been 9 days since I planted the seedlings. None are showing the leaves.
THanks any help will be appreciated.
