soil comparison FF vs. Organic Roots

I am trying a new (to me anyway) soil for my babies. Organic Roots 707.
Previously I had been using Fox Farms Ocean Forest, and to be frank, I am a bit disapointed with it. So I decided to try a side by side comparison.

My enviroment is as follows:
Strain: Blue Dream, from clones, all the same mother plant.Cloned at the same time.
Lights will be the same for the complete run. Cfl for clones. 400 watt MH for the growing cycle, and 400 watt hps for flowering cycle.
Nutriants will be minimal throughtout the growing cycle, as I rarely use nutes in this stage anyway. I usually do not start adding nutriants until I repot into 5 gal pots and they have been in the Flower room for a couple of weeks. Besides, I do not want to add nutes in this run as it will mess up the experiment with added variables, of which I am trying to avoid. I may not add any nutes at all and let the plants tell me what they lack and only then add nutes.

If anybody else has already done this, then please post your results. There are so many different products out there, all proclaiming to be the latest and greatest. I trully think that most are just way overpriced and overhyped. So what do my babies really need? Just really good balanced soil with the trace elements that will make them happy.

On a side note, I did run a batch with Botanicare soil and was real happy with the results from that run. I had seven White Widow and 6 Pure Power Plant ( from seed ) and managed to get almost 4 lb. out of them. The only reason I went with Fox Farms is that they where out of botanicare when I needed soil. The last run with Fox farms was a bit of a disapointment. I had 6 C-99 and I only got around 1 lb. ( I know that trying to judge using different strains is not too smart, but thats all I had to go on).

Eventually I think I'm going to blend my own, using subcools recipe, as soon as I can gather up all the ingrediants.

I'd bet roots organic is going to be the victor.. I'm currently using FF soil as well but I'd much rather use Roots.. Who know's though, we'll see in due time. :)

I switched from ocean forest to roots organics potting soil and it was an amazing transfer. I added fine perlite at a 1:3 ratio, the drainage is excellent. Roots organics has some different soils, so make sure you know whats in em. I'm pretty sure 707 is the one without many nutes in there, so you may find you have to add some or mix some in, unlike ocean forest where it will last you for a month.
