They are messing with you
"about a pound" is a generic answer we give everytime this question comes up which is like 10x a day.
the longer version is, we dont know. no one does. until its dried and trimmed and cured.
dont worry about yield. growing by the numbers is a sure fire way to be disappointed. or worst case scenario set yourself up for failure because you got in over your head.
focus on growing healthy plants. especially as a new grower. you did say your the new guy right?
SOG is a pretty advanced growing method that takes a lot of variables to pull off properly. If you have not grown before I would recommend starting with growing a few untopped plants. see how they do and how much space they take up. then try to do a shorter veg and see if you can squeeze a few more in the next round. repeat until you feel you are at your max.
Either way to do SOG properly you will need either steady access to clones or keep a mother so that all of your cuts are identical. Set a target weight per plant and try to hit that. Multiply that X total plants and thats your target yield for the next round. Until you have done a few rounds in your own space with genetics that you have tried multiple times so that you know what to expect, anything else is a total guess.
