SOG 12/12 with CFL to cut down height before HPS

I was wondering what people thought of 12/12ing with CFLs for a few weeks and then throwing them in for the remainder of the bloom into an HPS to cut down on the STRETCH that HPS causes. Looking at a bubble tub with 6 plants with a 250 HPS. Pros?, Cons?, comments, links, any input appreciated. Also, how tall do SOG(12/12ing from right after the clones develop roots) plants in bubbler tubs typically grow?

So the babies have been under the HPS for 2 weeks and I saw noticable stretch towards the top. Would CFL blooming for the first couple of weeks hurt the yield in anyway? I figure it wouldnt.

Everyone says cfls suck for flowering but im doing it and i have seen many people with great success you just have to know there limitations(the lights that is) i use 16 bulbs at 50/50 2700 6500 for about ten plants

I was actually thinking about doing the INITIAL blooming with CFLs for 2-3 weeks and THEN switching to my 250 HPS to cut down on the HPS stretch.

Nice grow plus reps man. I too am doing a perpetual sog with DWC tubs.
I veg my plants with cfl's as well.I have a halide lamp but my space requirements qont allow me to use it cuz for one, they grow to damn hard and fast.If i had more room and better flowering lighting i guess i would prefer this halide lamp..
Stretching in flower is mostly attributed to strain.Ur setup is tight bro this is exactly how om doing it actually.
In ur area the tub, U could have went with the 150 watt to achieve 50 watts per square foot but by adding the extra watts u r ensuring the proper amount of lumination needed to grow ur plants in ur flower area.
Dont bother with the cfls its only going to prolong ur flower time.
Stay on the track ur on bro.

T-5 Flourescents are known to keep internode length to a minimal and produce a high-output-per-watt ratio. Also, a dual spectrum may help. I think the red light coerces the plants to stretch.
