Slow drying is the way to go. I'm still trimming up this widow, and its' been hanging for over 6 weeks now. Smells sooo amazing, with a heavy citrus scent similar to blood orange or grapefruit!

slow drying? you referring to hanging the whole plant? 6 weeks is a long time had some headband that was taking forever (2+ weeks) to dry and still smells kinda green to me... smokes fine just not the smell I was wanting..

It may seem long, but the hygrometer was still reading semi-high levels of humidity in the room ! (keep in mind, the dry room stays very cool, steady temps of 50-55 degrees.) Was reading at 65%, which means, there's still moisture in those buds. The buds that I did leave to hang for 6 weeks are overall much smoother, and have a dankier smell than the ones I trimmed early..

Nice long dry! I like my plants to dry atleast 14 days but I don't use hygrometer>
I just wait until the stems have a snap to them>flimsy is no good for jars yet.

One time I let mine dry 21 days because of vacation and they actually were perfect for jars when I returned.

If your buds don't smell good after drying, usually it means the plant didn't mature enough; or dried to fast.
Sometimes, Genetics in a particular seed are no good, or not a good representation.>
Then it's time to pop some more seeds.

The stems were'nt really snapping cleanly on the bigger buds, until 5-6 weeks in. It's my first grow, so I was doing a little experiment with the drying process. I finished up the rest of the season's trim tonight, and really put in work on the prized cola bud. Boy was it fun to trim those beautiful flowers. It came in at 5.1 g !

I dried my last harvest both ways, trim first, and dry whole plant, and also trim later.... whole plant dry smelled better, but tasted the same as early trim at same drying time with same drying temps in the same room etc.

Next year I may just trim before drying. It really was a task trimming those leaves after they've shriveled and curled up into the buds.. Makes for a dirty trim job

You wouldn't have problems with trimming dried plant if you hang it RIGHT SIDE UP tie below the cola and hang RIGHT SIDE UP!!! The leaves aren't going to cover buds unless you hang it upside down.

I don't trim sugar leaves much(just tips if any) because it doesn't affect my potency or flavor and I don't make hash so it would be wasteful and VERY time consuming.

If it isn't 80% covered in trichomes> I consider it bang leaf and it gets chopped.

I can see how it would be time consuming trimming every sugar leaf off while the buds are dry and if you want to chop all sugar leaves off then trim wet.

Sugar leaves protect trichomes on the buds from getting knocked off during storage (less trichomes stuck to inside of jars)
