Im going to keep the short- I cut my plants down 9 days ago, and didnt bother to hang them i decided to lay them on a screen instead. They've been drying in a barn since and now starting to smell like hay. Its not a pleasnent smell that id want my bud to smell like. The stems are bendy and the buds are still little wet but crispy at the same time, so i decided to just throw them in a jar bout an hour ago. What should i do to get the smell back? Please help thanks :joint:

The hay odor is pretty darn normal. A better drying might have helped slightly but curing them is about all you can do .... so you are already doing all you can do ....... but for the future follow the link and read and then do and you will be happier in the end. http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/mj009.htm

The smell will mellow as it cures, but It sounds to me like you went into jars too soon. If the outsides of the buds are starting to get dry, but the insides are wet and the stems bend - instead of snap - I suggest you move them out of the jars and into a paper bag, for continued slow drying - for at least another day. Otherwise make sure you check on your jars every 6 hours

I like the paper bag idea but you could also ditch some of the stems to get the buds drying faster and smelling better. Then place them in jars and let them air out everyday for a few weeks.

Like previously stated, you may have jarred too soon. Let it sit in the jar overnight and if it's wet again on the outside in the morning, do the paper bag thing until the herb dries again. That hay/grass smell is mostly excess moisture.
