Smell/ventilation help!!

Alright. So i live in an appt atm and my grow box is in the basement. The temps are fine and everything but im worried about smell becoming an issue. I have just fans blowing for intake and exhaust but it just vents into the same room. If i make a carbon filter even tho the box is not sealed tight will it still work? Its a cardboard box from a bigscreen tv. So where it closes on the top there is gaps right? Anyone got any ideas?

A carbon filter will filter all the smell if you lose the intake fan and just pull all your exhaust through it. Having no intake fan will create slight negative pressure inside the box, meaning any gaps will have air coming in through them and voila, no smell leaks. This applies to any growroom, as it's very rare to have one that is completely sealed, and if you have a fan blowing in there is always a chance that some odours will leak out.
Also fwiw, I wouldn't be growing in a cardboard box, little flimsy, and flammable don't you think? Wood doesn't cost a fortune, and it's a fun project to build a cabinet. You can also tailor make it to your requirements for size and layout.
Good luck.

Thanks man. Yeah i know what you mean. Im going away for a week or two but when i get back i'm going to build a box from wood that has two parts for veg/flower. I Think i might actually go to wally world and buy one lol. I see a few guys in here that have done that. But yeah, sounds good man. Scratch the intake fan for now and will create the exhaust to pull everything through. Thanks :)
