Simple "Stealthy" Closet Exhaust Solution

Ok heres my idea for a "stealthy closet exhaust".. Its simple and cheesey I know this, but it will work in alot of situations im sure.. I never tried but I thought it would be a good method if neded so I thoguhot i'd post it ..

NOTE - If you are renting or live in an apartment you can buy a cheap closet door from lowes or depot for cheap. Obviously you dont wanna go cutting holes into a door if you dont own the house.

First a pic of the door before any modification ( from the internet )

Note- the hole/pic etc is not to scale lol..

Step 1 - cut hole for exhaust

Step 2 - Place a framed picture over the vent hole that will cover it. But instead of hanging it the normal way, you can hang it so there is a "pivot point" at one of the top corners .. This can be done many ways, but the easiest is prolly just to drive a nail all the way through the top left ( or right ) corner of the frame then nail it to the door.. The frame will obviously hang crooked , but then you can jsut put a small tack/nail or w/e in the door where the bottom left corner of the picture frame will hit ( put the "bottom" tack/nail in the door, not in the frame ) and it will act as a "stop" stopping the picture from swinging and staying straight.. The pic should now hang straight covering the hole and should only have one nail in it, at the top left corner and one nail in the door at the bottom left corner (to act as the "stopper" to keep the picture from swing all the way down and remain staight ) ... Now you should be able to "slide" or "swing" the picture counter clockwise exposing the hole and when let go the picture should "slide" or "swing" ( actually, rotate is prolly a better word .. but its rotating on the corner "pivot point" ) back into place covering the hole.. To get the pic to stay in the "venting" position jsut use a small tack to hold the pic in the "up" position..

I didnt put this in the pics because i forgot, but if you use a small thumbtack and push it in 2/3rd of the way, and put it in the right spot where you need it to hold the pic up in the "open" position, the pic will be able to rest on the tack when in the "vent" or "open" position, and easily moved to the "stealth" or "closed" position without removing any tacks or nails etc.. Just manually move pic each time.. I hope this makes sense lol.. Its late and im stoned .. Here is a pic to help show what I mean..

The "stopper" nail in the pic below is not quite lined up with the top nail as you can see, the pic is just for an example.. You want the bottom "stopper" nail to line up with the top "pivot" nail to ensure the picture hangs straight when in the "stealth" position.. Please overlook the crappyness of the diagram below lol.. I know the nail points are a bit "askew", lol...

Now this one shows better where the nails actually should be..

aww no one likes my ghetto idea ? lol
I used a closet, and it was pretty good I just ran a vent to it for ventilation from me A/C. Only problem was that the closet was in the hall and not my room. Someone found out about it that shouldn't have so it had to be demolished. I love the idea though, wish i still had mine up so i could give it a shot :weed::weed: take it easy bro

I know this is a decently old post, but OldSchool I feel you really got jipped on positive feedback.

A lot of people are looking for ways to vent a closet without every passer by saying something along the lines of "why is there a vent in your closet door?"

This is one of the most simple and clever ways i have seen so far. I for one am ashamed of my fellow RIU community for not giving props to this clever design. So simple, yet so practical.

+rep big time man!
