Should Small CHILDREN live in a grow house

So i just wanted to get everyones opinion on this subject. should small children be allowed to live in a house that is also being used to grow cannabis? they tend to say things to people without realizing that there can be consequences or should one hide what he or she does from their children? I as a medical patient of prop215 can grow medical marijuana but is it considered child endangerment growing pot with children living in the same house? Is it better for the child to have a better understanding of what mommy and daddy are doing? I as a Parent want the best for my child what is your take on all this??????

as long as your not letting them play in your grow room and not using hazardous chemicals i dont see an issue with it. i wouldnt allow them to really know whats going on and if they asked just tell them that its your medicine and like other medicines there are propper and impropper uses for it. Lets face it rec marijuanna is extremely abundant, i as a parent dont want my kids becoming super stoners hanging out smoking pot all day too stoned to participate in a normal life BUT!! if they do pick up the habbit i want to be there to tell them that it dosent make them a bad person and all things are good in moderation....

so my answer is yes and no, it all depends on who is growing and what they are teaching (if teaching anything) them.

I don't grow in the house. I built a room within my shop that is ~100 feet from my house. Shop is always locked and NOBODY goes in MY shop. 14 and 11 yr old girls.

They are starting to ask why I go out there every night at 7:00. I'm running out of excuses. (It doesn't take 15 mins to check if the shop is locked if you know what I mean)

I have to say that I am able to reply to this as my parents thought it would be cool to get their kid stoned... yeah I know terrible parents right? Well actually you have to give your children more credit than most parents do. They understand more than you think sometimes. I am not saying blab it out to them, but when they show that they understand what these things might be... I would not lie to them. Now if you are in a state that is illegal, that is a whole new ball game and you should never grow somewhere like this with children in the house.. that would be the worst thing in my book.. not because of growing it per say but more so what can happen to parents and children if things go bad. The hype of this plant has been taken to levels that are just stupid. I have seen young teenagers who get into the 'liquor' cabinet more than they should... once is to much in my book. Being up front with the young teenagers will help them understand what it is and not likely to do it behind your back. My parents split when I was 5 and this had a very negative effect on me, as I ended up being a 'limbo' kid. Specially when my parents got re married and had children from the new families. I never drank as a teenager and shook my head when girls in my school would get drunk and pregnant from one guy out of 10 that 'trained' her that night. But I did smoke more than most teenagers, but I turned out ok... I guess LOL. You have the right to your privacy as well and what you make private is totally up to you. I hope I have helped a little from being a child exposed to cannabis at a very young age (no my parents never grew it at home either.. though my step dad was a dealer LOL)

No, not a good idea. Aside from chemicals well-hidden you have kids that can carry tales. I wouldn't do it.
^^^^ Exactly why it's hush hush in my house. First your kids know, then their friends, then their friends parents.....and so on. I can't even tell my girls what I got mom for X-mas. They start playing the "guess what color mom?" game. Or "guess how much it costs mom?" game.

Just saw a guy the other day on the news got busted with a measly half pound of shwag and a couple charlie brown christmas tree ratty looking plants because his 12 year old son (7th grade) was bragging to his friends at school and a teacher over heard them.

Felony charges and the kid got hauled off by child protective services and won't be seeing his dad again for a while, even if the dad gets out of prison. And for some really weak ass weed too.

This subject has me deciding righ tnow if I'm going to shut down for good. I have a big pole barn, totally finished like a house. The upstairs has my grow rooms, and no one has keys to the upstaird floor but me. So my kids have no clue, thye're young. But I seriously think I'd kill myself if the cops came and took my girls... over this.......... and I'm a legal grower in a med State too. I have very mixed feelings, so I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking about this.

I'm personally thinking this may be my last runs, at least in this grow space. If I could rent a building, and know they won't have to see what happens when cops come, then I could keep going I guess. I don't know. Maybe for a smaller grow it wouldn't be so stressful. Probably not though.

I'm going to try to stockpile til I have kids... haha. (lot of extracts) Then take a break, focus on growing kids for a while... Then start again after they come of age and start smoking on their own... then I start growing again to keep them out of the black market and from driving around in cars smoking!

i think that's crazy, getting dyfs or w/e involved because a parent was growing a few plants.. like taking a kid from his loving parents and placing them in some home is better for them then living with a few plants.. :wall:

on the issue of do i think it's a danger to have kids in a house that grows, absolutely not, unless of course you get raided and the cops come in full bang of course..
but like others have said, i don't think it's a good idea simply on the security side of things.. kids don't quite understand the consequences of mentioning that one of their parents have a few marijuana plants at home imo..

My parents didn't grow but were very heavy into drugs. When the D.A.R.E came to my school I already knew to not talk to cops. I learned from a very young age to be afraid of them. Never in my life did I have a cop showing up be a good thing as a kid.

what will you do if you found out they were smoking pot? and how long do you plan on keeping it a secret before trusting them enough to let them know what youre doing.

i much rather my child be a stoner then a drunk and have him drinking and driving. it seems like each teenager with a car does that all the time it the "cool thing to do"

the money isnt worth losing a child over.... but money is needed to raise a child properly and keep himor her out of trouble, i know its a tuff call but it might be best to cash out on a home or warehouse. decisions decisions

i'm with you d3monic, but unfortunately not all kids were taught the same things you and i were and some even think that the cops are your friends and are there to help you..
ime, getting the cops involved in anything has never made one thing in this world better, matter of fact it usually makes shit worse ime..

Can you grow a tomato plant next to children? How about corn? Last I check a Cannabis plant doesnt bite nor say feed me Seymour. Chemicals underneath your sink are just as bad as nutrients for grow, both should be locked up away from kids.. Also the baby formula sold to kids is far more harmful than a Cannabis plant! FACT!

i'd think everyone on this site would pretty much agree with that statement, the only thing is the other side doesn't see things in the same light and it's not very uncommon for kids in a situation like this to be removed from the home..

I'd lock my room/closet or whatever you're growing in. It's your choice if you want to let your kiddos play in there, i know smelling the growing bud wont do shit to them so why would that matter? But power outlets, chords, fertilizer, HID bulbs, heavy reflectors... I have 4 siblings under 2 years old and when i go to visit my mom they are ALWAYS touching EXACTLY what you don't want them to touch.

Either way, if you grow or not, bad parents are just bad parents, and if they let their kids in their growroom un-supervised then chances are they probably let them do alot more dangerous stuff without caring.

I'd want my kid to know that it wasnt a drug, I think i'd let him come in if I was working with the plants since I dont see anything wrong with weed.. at a certain age maybe they could help me out alittle, have a little auto in the corner for them or something. But i wouldnt let them fuck around in there, too many things to get themselves hurt with

Yes, it's ok to have children around grow rooms but you need to give them an electrical shock anytime they touch a plant as aversion therapy.
