Should I use more watts in veg?

I have two 400w metal halides for veg but I'm only using one ATM coz I thought it would save power and I didn't see the point of using both for veg. But would they grow quicker during veg with more watts? Or should I just keep to the 400w and go 800w hps for flower? Opinions?

Thanks for reply, I have a 1.2x1.2x2 metre tent with 6 inch inline fan with carbon filter sucking air out and another fan blowing fresh air in, I have 3 plants on 12th day of veg. But also just had some seeds pop that i ordered so want to grow them coz the three plants that I have in there are just random seeds from a mate! Probably nothing special

1 400 watt light s/b sufficient for vegging 3 plants.

I thought commenting on it brought it back to top so people would see and reply haha I should have 7 plants soon though coz I just got some white widow, critical ak47 and berry bomb. So 1 400w sufficient to veg my tent? Till flower where I can use both 400w,

Maybe if total is going to be 7 veggies then maybe some supplemental CFL's on the side, during veg. Sounds good tho, nice mixture.
