Should I sterilize coco after damping off?

I just had damping off on my first seedling in coco/perlite. Was following the cocoforcannabis guide but I think I over watered the seedlings and the died from damping off. I am going to retry now but not water to run off and try to keep it from being overly saturated. I had temps 70-80F and humidity 70-80%. Should I pressure cook, bake, boil or do anything to my coco/perlite before trying again? It's cheap old coco brick from walmart called burpee seed starting mix that I rinsed heavily and buffered. I cleaned down all my pots and tent.

I just start mine in a jiffy pellet or something similar then when there week or so old then plant into my coco. Never had any problems. Weird your seedlings would dampen off in a coco perlite mix. Maybe just try keeping small area around seedling moist not soak all the coco til it’s well established. Shouldn’t be no need to sterilize your coco if you already cleaned and buffered it

alot of people make the mistake of not washing/charging/buffering their coco correctly. Check out canna's coco vid'shttp://www.cannagardening.com/videos/coco_and_buffering

Yeah that's what I'm struggling to figure out. It seems like it's rare for it to happen in coco. I rinsed it till the run off was clear and then gave it two eight hour soaks with calmag. The only thing I can think of is I overwatered, waited to long to give it nutes and stronger light which made it weak and susceptible to attack. And or my things are contaminated or something. I was told to try only watering around the edges of the pot and not to run off till it gets a little bigger.
