should I start with T5s/CFLs?

so im not entirely impressed with my first go at starting seedlings in a hydro ebb and flo environment under a 400w MH. I am thinking of picking up some T5 lights, actually this set up http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KN6L5I/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A1O863TZYF0C7N
and restarting with that until I want to turn on the MH. I was wondering if I could germinate the seedlings in 1inch rockwool and keep them buried in the hydrotron in my hut from the start, then when they sprout just turn the T5 light on fresh. thoughts?

Go for the T5 for sure! I have a 6 week old seedling that's just exploding under a T5

how long does the seedling phase last before its well into vege time?

I use T5 for vegging and rooting cuttings.
T5 suits all my needs for the veg stage.
