Ok im starting a grow, first big grow and I want to do it right. Ive done some small 12/12 from seed CFL grows but this is the first serious one. Im taking a 8x4 grow space, using 1000 watt metal halide for veging and then using a 1000 watt hps for flowering. Will this light be adequate for the area. Ill be using 10'' 2.5 gallon pots and have 30 plants. I plan to veg for 2 months and then flower for 2 months or until the buds are mature. Should I use bigger pots or will 2.5 gallons be enough to accomidate the plants full grow potential for that peroid. Whats the best soil and fertilizers i can use? Ive heard 20 20 20 but when i went to menards for ferilizer for my CFL grow i didnt see any fertlizer that met those specks. Keep in mind ill also be using Mylar on the walls. Also might set up co2 for flowering. Has anyone used co2 and how big of a boost was it. With this information does anyone have any idea what kind of yield per plant i could be thinking about, with and without c02? If anyone has any advice id appreciate it. And ill be using all feminized seeds.

If your gonna use feminized seeds then I recommend you getting some reverse made by Dutch Masters.
Spray it on during weeks 1 and 3 of bloom, it will help with seed production come to halt.
Feminized seeds generally get more hermies.
I don't buy feminized seeds anymore. It's not worth the extra money to get hermies.

2.5 gallon pots are big enough for 1 mature plant but you said you are growing 30? i dont think 1 2.5 gallon pot will be able to hold 3 plants fully mature root systems. maybe if you vegged it for less time.
i have a similar sized grow room with a 600w hps light and a 330 cfm squirrel blower exhaust fan and even with the fan going 24/7 the room would just get to hot.... 90-110 F
the solution to my problem was to air cool the light and add an inline fan blowing cold air from my roof.
Best soil and fert i found is Foxfarm planting mix with some perlite mixed in for increased drainage. and Foxfarm peace of mind organic fertilizer.
just mix the foxfarm peace of mind in your dirt.
if you experiance heat issues with your 1000ws you might want to consider air cooling or air conditioner or something

Feminised seeds guarantee you that you won't have males.
Feminised seeds are proned to give hermaphrodites.
I tried the whole feminised seed thing before, and all I got were hermies.
On my next crop that I grew with the feminised seeds, I used that Dutch Masters Reverse and it worked about 90%.
I still got a couple of seeds on some of the buds, but the bud was very, very good.
Personally I have no idea why feminised seeds are so much more expensive. They're more of a pain in the ass.
well ill be gettin under way this weekend so ill see how they treat me.. Hopefully better than they treated you. im doin a little bit of experimenting, with different soils and what not, im doing some in straight happy frog, some in straight ocean forrest and some in a mixture of the 2. i want to see if the ocean forrest is worth the price or if i can get comparitive results using a mix of the happy frog and ocean forest to save money in the future. Then i got big bloom fertilizer for vegging and tiger bloom for flowering. when would you say i should start using the big bloom maybe 3 weeks into it? Im actually using 5 gallon bags, filling em 4 5ths of the way high, and was going to water once a week and water with nutes once a week, does this sound about right.
