Seedlings with Pythium

Help please. Just started dwc. I have 6 seedlings in rapid rooter plugs. They germinated and are in the 5 gallon bucket in there rooter plugs which I drilled six holes in the lid for. I am running ro water but it has no uv light to kill bad organisms or bacteria in the water. I general hydroponics nutrientuse line, first i add calimagic (calmag) to the ro water. Then micro, then bloom as there is enough nitrogen for young seedlings in it I was suggested to skip the grow formula until I get bigger roots and start my veg. Seedlings are about 2 weeks old. Stunted growth on roots and plant leaves and stems. Seems nothing is growing. Fan leaves are drooping hardcore. I don't use any additives yet but plan to use floralicious plus as a foliar spray about 3 times a week when and if my seedlings start going better so I can start to veg them.under t5 high output lamp 4 ft 4 bulb. I tried bleach water to kill the root rot, tried hydrogen peroxide, sterilized with bleach and then rubbing alchol multiple times when I change my rez to get rid of the aquarium stench. I had my plants inside my house which is between 70 and 80 degrees which is what definitely caused the rot to start (noob novice beginner first mistake) I originally had it all setup in my basement. I live in the upper peninsula of Michigan and it's freezing here, we get lots of snow and cold winter's. My basement is 50 degrees so instead of constantly running a heater I brought them inside thinking I'd save money on running a heater constantly. Bad idea. Stinky res won't go away. What kind of fungicide do I start with? I read online to treat roots with fungicide then either go sterile or bennies. I have calcium hypoclorite with water mixed for tje sterile route which was hooked up with a buddy who grows hydro (most of my friends grow soil and I hate it cuz there no help to me). Added that and stench came back after peroxide bath then res was santized and changed and smell is back the very next day. FML. Do I need a good fungicide? If so what kind? And is Heisenberg tea made for root rot or slime or both? I'm thinking about trying brewed tea next. Are my seedlings doomed? I can get clones and start over in a new environment and with all new equipment. I read seedlings can often die the quickest with Pythium. Am I fighting a lost cause? Please help

That was tl:tr, but you need to post pics if you want help. I'm already guessing by the length of the post that you're trying to do too much to the sprout, which is going to cause problems. Sprouts don't need much of anything. They have stored energy in the seed that helps them get started. After that, they need very little until they get a little bigger.

Post pics and briefly tell us what's in your water.

Hiesenberg tea I believe is to treat everything bad and good. Its a bit of effort but so is scrubbing buckets, banging your head against the wall wondering what went wrong.

I have heard the results are worth it, in your situation I would suggest you look at his thread and try it, it sounds like your seedlings have been through a rough time.

How much roots are through the pot?

Personally gh has enough of everything I dont see why you should add calmag

I re potted my rapid rooter plugs so that roots were going down the holes in the net pot today. It was like a week since i transplanted into single buckets and no roots grown into the water yet so I fixed that this morning then lowered the water level below the net pots so my plugs don't get soaked and end up with rot again. I used 34 percent hydrogen peroxide mixed with water to clean my roots first after the Pythium incident because I let water temps get too hot. Now its under control for the temps and I used hydroguard after the h202 treatment. My seedlings blew up with new white roots thank the Lord. Back on track, growing slowly each day. I got hydroguard and ocean Forrest potting soil to make some tea from Heisenbergs thread. I still gotta get some unsulfered blackstrap mollases and whatever bennies I decide to go with. Couldn't find zho powder or the other one heisenbergs thread suggested on amazon but I found great white, but in that thread ppl said the great white sucked for the tea. So I'm stuck in a rut not knowing which bennie to get to brew my tea. FML. I don't even know if I need it since my plants bounced back but just in case I'm going to invest in the ingredients to make it if ever needed in the future. I don't wanna mess with the root rot ever again, that sucked. And don't really wanna combat against slime either so just in case. But as of now res temps are 62 degrees so not worrying much about the tea at this point. Can't wait to get home from work to check on my re transplants that I did this morning. Hoping I see roots going crazy. I'm using ro water with GH nutes, starting with CaliMagic fo the ro water, then micro, then grow, then bloom, then hydroguard and then rapid start. Using floralicious plus as a foliar spray. Floralicious plus is organic so can't use it inside my res as organics and dwc don't mix. I also bought florakleen to remove salts when needed and also. I also had bought vegan compost tea from GH and wasted my money on it since it's also organic I don't think I will ever use it in my res or as a foliar spray. Of course pH up or down as needed. I try to keep my phone at 6.0. they recommend 5.5 to 6.5 so I try to keep it in the middle so it has room to fluctuate up or down .5

Man, that's an awful lot of work and chemicals to get some new roots to grow! This is not normal, in the least. It just doesn't normally take this much effort or additives to get roots to grow. I think you're going to be facing some major problems if this continues throughout the grow.

My advice to you would be to put all the additives away and go back to the basics, which works really well if done correctly. If you're having problems with your sprouts, there's really only a few things it could be. Think of how plants grow naturally in nature, because that's what you're trying to duplicate.

The roots are growing white and good now. They were not before when I battled and defeated pythium. There seedlings so taking a bit longer than clones. Getting some og Larry and blue dream clones from a friend too so those should probably finish before my seedlings.

I just replanted them cuz I didn't like how long the roots were taking to poke through the net pots. Now there rock and rolling

Great! Be careful about handling them too much. They can go into shock if too many things keep changing.

Yep, seeds are going to take longer. This is where cloning can knock off a week or two from the grow.

If I handle mine too much, the base of the stem begins to get weak and thin and eventually they die...I personally wouldn't even imagine adding nutes until they've produced at least a couple sets of leaves to actually synthesize energy from the nutes with in the first place...Keep it Simple Simon, or KISS, is an acronym you'll see quite oftenly here. :) I use RO water and I don't even add my Cali-magic until preflower/flower when buds start showing themselves...even then it's questionable whether it's needed...Unless you wanna go through the pain of always adding H202, and fretting about any organic matter like leaf tissue getting in your water, I'd just get something like Hydroguard or Great White...gives you more room for error and higher water temps, and also stimulates the hell out of your roots and their growth...not to mention, it obviously prevents root rot aka the all-dreaded pythium.

They are all starting to get past the seedling stage now. There's four leafs with new growth on top of three of my baby girls, and the fourth is many more leafs than those 3, it's outgrowing the rest. There loving life with what I'm feeding them so I'm not gonna stop doing what I'm doing cuz its working and there all healthy plants. Getting some clones soon from a friend that are rooted already so those should pass these up still. Getting some og Larry and blue dream and maybe another strain too. I dont even know what I'm working with now as I killed over half my seedlings when I started due to stupid beginner errors. And I forgot to label what I did have left. Another mistake learned. Oh well live and learn.

Yeah that's the biggest, and most frustrating part, is there being no 100% correct formula to do x, y and z and you will succeed for any one person. If it works, then it works, the proof is in the plants! Sorry I was thinking of just-sprouted seedlings lol. I actually did the same thing myself this grow, I got a THC Bomb Auto and Transiberian Auto mixed up and have nooo clue which is which lol. I just guessed for the sake of labelling daily PH/PPM values. Sounds like yours are doing good though, hope all stays well!

Thanks Logan, my 4th and final plant finally got roots coming out the bottom of the net pot. Now to veg them 12 to 18 inches tall before I flip them to flower, going to lst and fim and scrog. Another 3 weeks to a month I'm guessing and I'll be ready to flower. Working with 6 foot ceilings so height is an issue. Which is why I'm scrogging and lst and fimming so I can create short bushes with lots of colas instead of tall xmas trees
