Seedling help

I'm currently germinating my seeds. This is my first grow. I'm going to use starter pots for the early stages. Should I use a soil mix with pearlite and other ingredients during this time or would it be ok do me to just use potting soil for the starter pots and wait until I transfer into a bigger pot to add the other ingredients in that soil? Thanks.

Hi, congrats on germing those seedlings. That is the most exciting part. It finally all becomes real LOL. I've successfully used Rockwool, Jiffy peat pots, coco coir pots and now I just pour Advanced Sunshine Mix #4 into the 3 oz Dixie bathroom cups and sprout them in that. Then I move them to more of the same material in 3x3 pots (you can see mine in my grow journal just transplanted them they are 1 week old today).

So why not use what you plan to keep them in. But if not then use something with enough perlite to make sure the soil or soilless drains quickly.

Oh and welcome to RIU.
