Seedling dilemma

Thanks for any help on this, I've got to decide soon.

I just stuck a germinated seed into soil in a party cup. I can either 1) put it in a dark space that's about 60F, or 2) stick it under CFLs which will raise the temp to about 70F. Which would be better?

I've had good success covering the cup with a plastic bag and putting it into a dark WARM place, but never tried to do it in cold temps.

first i wanna say that im a first time grower , so basicly im still a noob myself. BUT
i dont belive that covering it with a plastic bag would do much good .. it will increase the humidity and theres a problem of air .
i would put it under the CFL , 70F sounds just about right .

If there is soil in the cup then put it under the lights. The heat and light will help it grow faster.

Hey thanks tmaster2 and Tunda for the quick replies. I'm going to take your advice and put it under lights right now. Much appreciated!

Under the lights is definately better. If you can get your tem,p up to 80F though, your baby will germinate much faster. You can use a soda bottle with the bottom cut off as a humidity dome. Lift it once a day to replace the air, and be sure to remove it as soon as your seedling breaks the surface.:peace:

Hey DoeEyed,

Great tip- thanks. This sounds much better than my previous plastic bag method.
