Second cycle with exact same problem. Lost the previous

Hey guys,

This is the second time I'm facing this problem.

Setup:
Coco (Buffered) + Perlite
Plant Prod 7-11-27 + Calcium Nitrate
EC: 0.9
PH: 5.8-6.1
Around 25 days
18/6
65W lm301h

It starts like a tip burn, the plant gets stunned, then the whole leaf goes full necrosis.

During my research, I've also find the picture below with the exact same problem I'm facing.

I had that couldn't figure it out binned all the media and got fresh stuff problem solved.

Not the solution I was expecting to execute. How close was the setup compared to mine?

I was reusing media and auto pots don't reuse media now I just throw it around the garden when a run is done.

Honestly your going to have to either figure out a fix or wash all the media off and use fresh stuff. But by the time things fix them selves you could have started new seeds in fresh media and be further along

You have no quick fix option.

They look like they are just starving to death. No particular deficiency but a deficiency in everything.

What particular brand of coco are you using and are you sure it is buffered as you say? Almost looks like it's unrinsed coco and loaded up with the sea salts that the raw coco is saturated with when first harvested.

I'd try repotting into just potting soil with perlite and see if they don't recover. I suspect that coco is crap.

I meant to ask the same question @Failmore asked. Are you soaking the media good when you water and not just a little around the base of the plants?

I'm watering to runoff, and the runoff is usually 0.6-0.8

If the problem is salt, shouldn't it raise my EC? Could I have salt problemas without crazy EC?

That is def on the hot side. Do you have a fan blowing on the plants?

If you are that hot and there is no air flow. They will burn.

It should raise the EC if loaded with salt for sure so if salt isn't the problem I don't know what it is but they look like they are starving and maybe something is screwing up the roots so they can't absorb nutrients.

Like I said I'd repot into something different and see if that fixes things. A bad fungus gnat infestation could destroy the root hairs and cause that. See any tiny black flies around your plants?

Got me stumped.

I do have a fan blowing 24/7.

I had seen some fungus gnats but after I applied Neem Oil they vanished.

I just can't compare it with any other picture of problems that I find online, and my past plants looked EXACTLY the same.

i dont think thats gnat damage since i had a big gnat infestation on my grow that im finnishing tomorrow and by infestation i mean just picking the fabric pot up they would fly out like crazy...... (Probably brought them from my GF since she had a big infestation on her one plant i was trying to save)

But on the other hand ur growing coco and i dont have experiance with coco :/ ill drop a nutrient diagnostic pic here maybe it will help you if not maybe in the future

Once the gnats are gone new roots would grow in and even the damaged roots would branch out with new feeder roots.

Best thing I've ever used for getting rid of them is Gnatrol. I got a little packet of it from the hydro store in the city and just one small dose in a bunch of pots and they were gone. Not even sure if they were fungus gnats as I was getting nothing in the sticky traps but when I watered to runoff there were mats of tiny larva floating around on top. My plants weren't suffering so maybe they were larva of a helpful kind but I'd prefer to be bug free.

That Gnatrol is a bacteria or something that fucks up their guts so all natural and safe for other things.

Just to update, I had a really deep conversation with a more experienced grower over here and we came with the excess calcium possibility.
It could be responsible for the signs of Potassium deficiency and also the resemblance of heat stress.
I'm putting aside the gnat possibility for now, just flushed and will slowly increase nutes in the following days.

I'm so glad of all the discussion here, thanks for all the insights. Will keep u guys informed and I'm still open to new information.

At 25 days I have my ec at about 1.2-1.4. Give them more food and they should be fine

Hey everyone.

So, two weeks later I'm back with great news.

Both of them recovered well and going strong!

What could have been the problem is my coco brand, which is probably already buffered with CalMag, so it was ~double buffered~ and caused Mg and Potassium lock due to excess Ca.

Hey everyone

Looks like my struggle is far from ending.

After a few flushes and pumping up my nutes to 2.0 EC, the problem has returned.

Day 20 flowering

Any tips?

I have changed the ratio of my nutes to meet the directions I have received from Plant Prod technical support.

Also, my little ones are still showing the same problems I had before, even without the calmag buffer I have done before.

Any tips are very welcome.
