SCROG tips

Hi there!
I want to SCROG for the first time and I have a few doubts so...

1. I'm planning to grow on a 1sqmeter net. How many plants should I use (I'll use bagseed, I have plenty of them)?

2. Seen different opinions... should I top/fim my plants before?

3. The net should always stay at the same height or will I ever need to move it up?

4. I have a 1.2*1.4*2 (meters) space so I'm planning a SCROG and a "regular" grow (as I have 2 lights, I'll be able to control their height individually). Is that ok or I really shouldn't grow anything else there?

Hope you can help me!
Cheers!

I don't mean to be rude or ungrateful but after reading 10 pages or something like that, found nothing of what I'm looking for... Plus, it's a 71 pages thread to answer 4, I assume simple, questions for anyone with some SCROG experience. Could anyone help me? Thank you!

your right you should be given a straight answer pretty easily without having to read a 80 page essay. ill try to do give the best advice i can... the number of plants depends on how long you are planning to veg for. Remember you need to fill the screen 50% before putting into flowering. plants double to triple in size so take in account for that. Also going to throw this out there scrog isn't a technique you want to use with bag seed. if you end up with a male it could become a Bitch to untangle from the screen. FIM/TOP... Try both techniques they both will do what your looking for. And to your third question if its both in the same room then no i would stick with one technique just so that you can optimize your lighting. A stairway effect is the worst in a garden..
Hope that this answered some of your questions Good luck

i've built a scrog chamber, but haven't made the move to scrog yet
the reason comes to mind when you mention bagseed - i.e. male plants
you can, of course, cut out male plants, but that's given me pause until i have a better bet on females in the scrog

First of all, thank you both for your answers.
I didn't explain myself correctly... this "bagseed" I'm talking about, we're seeds I got from my first grow (had a few nanners in one or 2 plants) which was itself from bagseed. At the time I germinated 6 seeds hoping to get at least 3 females but all of the 6 plants turned out to be females. I'm kinda hoping these seeds will grant me females only once again (I know that as they come from nanners from a female they might end up hermies).
I have another option. I have 5 seedlings from seeds I bought, almost 1 week old, already under my 250w MH. The thing is that 3 of them are sativa dominant (Amnesia Haze (Soma Seeds), 2 Jack La Mota's (Medical Seeds) & Haze Mist (Advanced Seeds)) and the other 2 indica dominant (2 Early Widow's (Advanced Seeds)). Would it be possible to do a U shape SCROG with the 2 sativas on each side and the indicas in the middle bottom part of the screen?
I don't want to veg more than a month or so.
Cheers and thank you once again mates!

feminized seed is what seems to be recommended, sounds like you may have that
depending on how the chamber is constructed, cutting out a male could be quite unpleasant, which occurred to me after i had built my scrog chamber

Scrog - An effective method to grow big plants in a small space.
Scrog = Screen of Green
When a grower has limited space to grow, certain larger strains may seem prohibitive due to their size. By using the Scrog technique to make optimal use of your grow room, these once prohibitive strains can be grown with ease. Besides this, you can also predict what the height of your crop is going to be. This makes a grow much more predictable and you can use almost every strain that is for sale in Sannie's Shop. Sativa's or sativa dominant hybrid's can grow big and in limited space, they may out grow the area in both overall stature and height. This also presents the problem of inadequate light penetration, a problem Scroging fixes easily. With the Scrog technique outlined below, we will show you how to bend all the buds on to one screen so that light can penetrate the whole crop.
I will show you step by step how to make full use of your Scrog.
The following plants are at the end of their grow period (18/6 light) and at this moment we have enough plant growth to switch the clock to 12/12 so we can start flowering. Notice we start the screen just above the canopy right at the end of the grow cycle. We can do this because this sativa will grow for another 3-4 weeks after switching the clock. It is typical for most plants to go through a stretching period after the light cycle change, usually 2-4 weeks depending on the strain. As you can see the first shoots are coming thru the screen and its time to bend these shoots on to the screen. Note, you can use allot of different material for the screen, chicken wire, trellis netting, mesh fencing, mason twine, pretty much any material with a 2" x 2" to 6" x 6" hole pattern works well.

You need some type of material to hold the bent shoots on the screen. We are using the follow clips to bend them but tie straps, zip ties, velcro straps even twine all work well:

As you can see in the photo's, every shoot that passes through the screen is bound to the screen with the clips to be sure we get a nice and flat screen of buds...

As long as the plant keeps stretching, you need to bind the shoots on to the screen. Remember, the length of time a strain stretches is dependant on the strain. The idea is to create a nice even canopy. Here they are in the beginning of there flowering period:

Now that the plant has stopped growing, she can put all her energy into making flowers and has ample light where she needs it

The plants are near the end of there flowering cycle and almost ready for harvest. As you can see, there's a screen full of buds. This method is easier to control compared to plants grown utilizing the SOG (sea of green) method in limited space. You will maximize the use and effectiveness of your lighting equipment and increase your harvest when using the Scrog method.

It is easy to make a Scrog and and even easier to use once you have it set-up. Most people find this method easier than a standard set up or SOG method because of the canopy and height control inherent to this method. Give it a try, we're sure you will love your new Scrog!

Yes, I have 5 seedlings from feminized seeds. The thing is I have 2 indicas and 2 3 sativas. Would it be ok to put the sativas on the sides (U-shape screen) and the indicas in the middle?

this is just from my experience in planning out a scrog, it's on hold for a bit
i had an interchange with an experienced scrogger on another site, i had in mind this 4 foot long scrog chest
which was apparently quite large, he said it would take a long time for a plant to fill
so i made a plant chamber, 2 foot for each plant, which seemed more reasonable to him
width was going to be 16 inches, kind of a micro scrog, i will try it someday

I have 3,3x3,3 ft so if I use 5 or 6 plants that should be enough to avoid a long veg, right?
this is out of my experience, which is micro grows(straight up)
so take info with the grain of salt
6 plants sounds like a 1 foot by 1.5 foot section per plant
it could work, sounds pretty tightly packed

I gave my plants 2sqft and they filled it up quickly under t8's (about 60% in 7 weeks), now that I've had them under the 1000watt hps they've filled most of that remaining area in just 4 days. I may actually attach more screen. I would say to cut it down to just 5 plants it will give your girls a bit more space to branch out, allowing better light penetration.

One last thing... saw in video a guy telling people to start filling the screen from the borders. Is is it like that? I mean, the guy only had 1 plant in the middle of the screen but he pulled one of the tallest and farthest tops back under the screen and re-put it at one of the border holes in order to start filling from there in direction to the plant. Doesn't that take a lot more time? Always had the idea I should let the plant grow their tops to the screen and then just start filling outwards.
