Scrog Question..

Hello,

I was just wondering if anyone knows the difference in a scrog where either the plants are topped and grown up to the screen, then tops are pulled down through the holes and moved to a different hole every two days... or ... topping and growing the plant normally for a few weeks.. then spending a day LSTing the plant and throwing a screen over and spreading the tops through the holes?.. like hygro hybrid does in his videos..

Thanks

dude, good luck getting any answers here on scroging, I have asked a few times, and got the same results as you did on this here thread. not sure if ppl just don't use scrogging or if it is just one of those forbidden conversations. lol, I just google it and study up....I never really heard about moving them every two days tho, its basically just topping, getting an even canopy, and letting only buds come thru the screen, no buds below the screen, or, I believe some say, even no veg below the screen, so you would use the lollipopping method as well. like I said tho, I don't think you are gonna get to far here on this topic. it seems simple enough tho, just give her a go. goodluck,

There's plenty of SCROG threads on here, people just need to stop being lazy, and search "SCROG"
As for the question, some people do it one way, some do it the other.

I'm definitely not lazy I have been reading for months, just finished my first grow using scrog actually. Spending 45 mins at 3am every 2 days before I go to work, pulling the tops back down and into the next hole, took up too much of my time. Will most probably try it the other way on next grow if I am confident I won't snap the plant LSTing it. Thanks for the reply.

O.K,so your not lazy, but there is no denying that all SCROG questions can be answered through the search facility.
Anyway,I wait for mine to be a few inches higher than the net before I slap it on top, then top the shit out of any heads that have popped through the screen,I tuck them under whilst they are still supple, but as soon as the stems start getting a little thicker, then I string tie them down to the net, using string is much more forgiving than weaving it in and out of the screen.
As for how often I tuck and tie,I do mine once a week(the new growth is still more than supple to be tied down)Obviously if I see the odd straggler trying to dominate above the rest,I either top it,or just quickly tie it down, but the heavy bondage comes on Monday, and Monday only:bigjoint:

I'm probably going to do what you have said here mate..

When you top all the heads that pop through the screen does this stress the plant and stop it from growing for a while? Would it be best to do this topping when switching to 12/12 to help stop transitional stretch? If you top all the heads coming through the screen wouldn't this just make more smaller buds?

I don't think it actually slows it down as such, but it will certainly look like it,since you have you cut off the main stems which were obviously shooting up fast.
As for the more tiny buds question, they will be tinier than a main cola obviously, but I don't top during flower,so the topped nodes should have stemmed out quite a bit before the pistils come along.
The only time I might consider topping 2/3 weeks into flower,is if I had an unruly stem, and I had no space to tuck it into.
In an ideal situation,by week 2 of flower,I would like my screen full and level, and the next 2 weeks I will let the heads shoot up,and just manipulate them them a tiny bit with string, mainly just to keep any over shooters level.:bigjoint:
