Yeah it will work but you need to put some cross sections in to form squares, they don't need to be perfect.
You could skip that if you want to use loose plant ties instead, the squares just help you spread the plant out more even.
Squares make is easier to train in all directions, tucking as they grow through and relocating a bud site in a square, repeating the process until the whole space has bud sites when you have flipped.
