Hi,Be a nice guy and put legs on that mesh
the deal is the stems have got to grow thru that mesh not sit on it
bamboo garden stakes taped to each corner is grand
good luck
I'm so thankful i used string instead of metal lol all but 30 seconds with a box cutter i had all the string down. How did your grow turn out? Because it looks like it would be a NIGHTMARE to get the plants out of the net when you harvest, which is why I just use string (which I cut when I chop).
next time i'd recommend going the string route with a SCROG as metal is perfect to make the branches lie how you'd like but getting it separated from your plants is a bitch if they grow over/through. But to each his own I hope it worked for you man!Hi,
im scrogging my 1 plant.
i have a steel scrog item that ive dropped onto the plant.
its using gravity only. not attached at all
will this work? its wobbly.
is this a good idea or should i fix it to something?
Heres pics:

that was really smart. I've seen set ups like this and I've seen maybe a way to tweak or edit it so you don't have to use screws but basically screwing your pilot holes through the wood and feeding the sting through the holes so it's seamless if that description makes sense. going to do this with my PVC left over from the fist screenI made my own frame out of wood and just wound the string very tight, which mostly has kept its shape. One thing to note is that if you are defoliating be very very careful, or you might cut the string (like I did) and you can't really restring the net once they are in it.
Like I said that stuff is shit. The frame/net I have cost me $3 in screws and 25 min in uh screwing.Just buy plastic trellis netting. Lol
I feel you on that. I can see how you'd think that. I was using pvc so it wouldn't be a bad idea however with wood it would probably not be with the trouble. It's why I measured mine and strung her up before then, let my plants grow into the net. Whatever works at home , I like the resourcefulness man! I've always struggled with scrogging and this round was no exception so I'm with you on the struggling part lol. I was personally told to try to grow plants in the corners of the SCROG and grow them out that way so the fill the net and don't leave a middle gap. Another method that may give you more help is training your girls from the jump so you can set them up to be even on the screen. I don't know if you've heard of Northern Scrogger on Instagram but he's a guy whos mastered the SCROG and I've learned a bit from, ill look to see if I can't find the website that helped me with SCROGThat sounds like a real PITA, especially if the frame is already in the tent. I'm sure it could work but I mean the screws cost me like $3 for I dunno a few hundred (I just bought them from the bulk bin at hardware store that charge you per weight). Story might be different with PVC, I just happened to have some warped scrap wood in my garage so that's why I went with that.
I am struggling with how to SCROG right now though, hence why I've resurrected an old thread (just going through threads with search term SCROG). Eg. I don't really know what to do with all the spaces directly in the middle of where the plants are because I have pulled all of their branches out sideways along the net, so there is a big empty space there, also what to do about branches that require you to overlap each other to fill the screen. It's hard to get good perspective with my camera but you'll see in the pic that the canopy is not very even at all (these are 2.5 weeks from flip) and when I go in there at night to do something about it I'm honestly absolutely lost as to where to pull what because there isn't really any room and the ones in the middle in particular have stretched more then on the sides of the tent.
I use zip ties to anchor the frame to the tents poles. You can kind of see the one at the top right holding it there. I was just sick of the shitty trellis nets they had at gardening shops so made my own *shrug*
I have debated making a second net to give them stability, but the tent is only 5' tall and they are already very short plants so I think that might be overkill. It certainly won't fix my initial problem of how to pull them under correctly.
Also sorry for hi-jacking the thread, but I'm pretty sure it was a dead thread anyways lol.
It is kinda shitty, but it works. Not as cheap as $3 though.Like I said that stuff is shit. The frame/net I have cost me $3 in screws and 25 min in uh screwing.
Yeah this current grow is from clones, which are a bit more difficult to LST from the start. But I am preparing for my next grow from seed and plan on doing some rigorous LST. I was hoping to never grow from seed again, but I think to do LST from the start is best if you're in a situation like me where you have very limited space. I'd top you uneven ones until your sides catch up seems like the most immediate remedy but it can be hard to do.
I thought of the same but when i pulled my other girl the other night i had to cut the entire netting down and she held surpassingly well, when and if done well your SCROG nets should only require the single SCROG but i know you might be breeding a monster
I wish I didn't use mason line to tie mine up. I didn't think to use zip ties lol thanks for the "next time reminder" I'm going with legs though next time because it was a bitch
that was the guide i was gonna tag here perfect that you've got a great resource to start from! I do generically agree on that , seeds respond to training better but you cant beat having a custom cutting of meds you know and love. HPS has always scared me as my brother almost burned our hours down when i was 6 with a shitty set up so I've been cock eyed towards HPS but i want one for my indoor grow. Been told it kills it if done correctly, so i want the best for my plants. sounds like you have a similar tent size as me (I don't know if I stated such earlier) 4x2x6 is what i have and my LED is 2000W (lies) and im disappointed with my overall and know i could've come close to maxing out with better light and better feeding schedules.Yeah this current grow is from clones, which are a bit more difficult to LST from the start. Part of my problem is that I have an air cooled reflector with a 400W HPS and I have not been satisfied with its inability to cover the entire footprint of my tent (maybe good for 2'x2' but doesn't reach out to the edges of my 2'x4' footprint). So near Christmas last year when HLG had a sale on its QB 120 v2 boards I bought some, and with some 3/4" angle aluminum have made a frame to hold one of these boards on each side. So the stuff in the middle is being blasted with 400W HPS, but on the sides only 70W (3000K colour LED) each. Still much better then no light flanking the sides but there is still an uneven spread of light that without a light mover there's not really anything I can do.
I only have 2 plants in there and have put them like tried to center them, but I never considered putting them at the edges and pulling the branches inwards towards the middle. I will take a look at possibly doing that on my next grow thanks.
I don't really want to top because they are flowering and I mean the tall ones are the ones I hope to be the biggest colas so I really really don't want to chop them off.
Another thing to mention is that the frame itself has given my tent better structure (the exhaust fan created negative pressure which sucks the tent walls in, the frame keeps it from doing that).
Tie your own from dollar mason line and basic tools. Attach to frame poles as desired. Cable or twist ties here. 3' - 3.5" squares suggested.

Yeah my tent is 5'x4'x2' and I agree about the fear of fire with HPS. That's why I bought an air cooled reflector (and sealed it), so that bulb won't be touching anything flammable.that was the guide i was gonna tag here perfect that you've got a great resource to start from! i forgot your in flower so no top then i cant blame ya. I loved negative pressure lol it was fun thinking I could run my AC infinity at 7 on the first run... what a fucking noob probably lost a quarter cola from that
