Scoring Plants w/Pliers???

Someone was telling me that they saw a friend score the stalk of their plants with pliers and shake the plant. Apparently it sends the plant into shock and it is supposed to make the buds twice as crystally... anyone ever heard of anything like that?

Right before harvest I use threatening language on my plants to get them to dank up a bit.
It seems to work for me.
I threaten to use pliers or the cordless drill but I'm not that much of a sadist.
