safety of pipes for smoking

There's an association, but that's different from causality. Aluminum is so ubiquitous that it would be difficult to perform a study with good controls. However, just so you can relax, you can be assured that if there was a smoking gun when it comes to this question, it would be pretty obvious from looking at people who work in the aluminum industry, and that's just not the case. In other words, you're at a much greater risk from the tar in the smoke (proven risk factor) than you are from the aluminum pipe.

Why people would smoke out of ANY metal pipe is beyond me. Glass/pyrex is where it is at...such a clean puff you can't beat it. Especially if you're smoking good stuff you don't want to waste it in a metal pipe.

And there ya go...td said it all...IF you have concerns, re: metal smoking devices, DON'T use them. This issue has been hashed over on countless threads and nobody's mind has been changed yet, pro or con. As an aside, I'm 71, and consumed cannabis from just about any device you can think of, (and some you DON'T want to think about, LOL). So far, everything still seems connected upstairs, I've NOT begun to "nod & drool" yet, so either I'm very lucky or it's just NOT something to get your undies in a knot over.

So, if you find yourself with smoke, and no glass, will you just not get high? Don't get me wrong, given the option I'll choose a glass pipe easy, but I've been at work, was able to get some smoke unexpectedly from a friend, and had nothing. So, I went to someone I knew smoked and borrowed their lighter, got a coke from the coke machine, and drank it while walking to my smoke spot, made a dent, poked a small hole in the center of it, and another on the side and used it as a ghetto rigged steam roller. Its about doing what you can with what you got. Optimal is all well and good, but sometimes life calls for you to be resourceful...

I use a pipe thats foil but ive turned it into a non-disposable pipe. Ive smoked roughly an ouce out of it and its only been dank weed. no schwag or mids.
so its got a thick ass coat of resin on the inside so the smoke doesn't even touch metal. I would agree that glass is better cause you can scrape it, they last longer, and it doesn't get much cleaner than that. Metal can make the smoke hot and you cant scrape foil for shit. But after you break it in its fine. and those are myths about foil causing cancer or Alzheimers. foil is every druggies freind. It can do that BUT foil needs to be vaporized. to do that you need way more heat than a blow torch let alone a bic lighter.
when i make home made pieces I always burn off all the chemicals on the metal with the stove.( you dont have to do that w/ foil.) over the years ive learned to make shit alot safer to smoke out of. Foil isnt dangerous dont worry. like i said its a druggies best friend.. Pot head, heroin junkie, crack head, meth addict.. they all use it.
