ROtational grow

hi , i havent found much serious detailed information on rotaional growing, so i am starting a thread on how to build them cheaply instead of $2000. im going to try build a small volksgarden first to hold cuttings amd first bit of veg growth and then build another larger scale one for flowering.
i think the process will be better if you seperate it into 2 different grow rooms with 2 different rotaional wheels one for veg and one for budding so you can keep a constant cycle in process.
i will update the thread in the next couple of days when i have all the parts to start building my small scale roational grow.
if anyone else has any experience in omega gardens and rotational growing please leave comments, expertise and pics if you can thanks.

well looking at this one it looks very simple.... looks like you can take a large tire or tractor tire and cut it accordingly then add a motor at the bottom connected to a couple wheels. The motor drives the wheels the wheels rotate the tire. However, as far as efficiency on this I am not convinced. Yes, plants get all the water and light they need but I can't help but think this will be a mold problem waiting to happen.

thx smokeh i was there 2 months ago... want to go back :), i am looking at building it out of marine ply or the other ply which is waterproof, will be able to make a long lasting strong structure from it. then i will use plastic or metal to make the channels for the plants to sit in. the resivoir im not sure what im doing yet lol, duno whether to use a waterbutt so i can hold more juice.
Mould is a problem for every indoor grower if you have good outake and fresh air mould should be ok, the main problem with these i would sya is root rot as i am not sure how the roots are completly protected from the light(i will see how to get around this when i get to that problem lol)

bud stop should fix the bud rot and mold issues also some hydrogen peroxide.... looking more into this apparently the plants fighting with gravity allows much faster growth from initial research I have done.... very interesting.

how would i build the channels so when they rotate they soak water, i no they much be able to hold a 3-4 inch rock wool cube but i was wondering if i can buy them pre fabricated so i can just attach them to my wheel.

Go get a job that pays 10 bucks an hour.

I bet you any amount of weed youll get 2000 bucks before you can put together anything approximating a volksgarden

I could build something equivalent to a VOLKSGARDEN in a day GUARANTEED..... just because I am resourceful like that.

Pay for supplies and everything else I'll do it. Call all the bullshit you want it is a VERY SIMPLE concept.

Please acknowledge that its not simple certainly not VERY SIMPLE, Im not saying you cant do it because I dont know you, but I do know that alot of people would waste alot of time and money trying to make this and not get a product anywhere near the quality of these units.

Listen to ganjagodess, someone who has made these things from scratch, they are rife with issues and if your not a technical wiz it might be beyond you. But with all of godess' technical ability it still took that kind of money, and you have to factor in the number of hours you are going to spend engineering the thing on paper. My original claim was that you cant build this for 2 grand when you factor in the 100man hours that would spend working on it that you could otherwise spend making money to just buy it.

Alot of things are simple in concept and complicated in execution

Edit: Pay for the materials? How about you publish the plans so anyone can make it? Itll be easy because its VERY SIMPLE

i have to agree with potlike.. i built my own setup and despite being delayed because of work the actual hours put in are minimal... i would say most of the hours putting into a system like this would be in the engineering but if you had the proper tools and equipment i would be pretty certain it could be built in a few days... again this is labor alone not including the time spent finding the materials and whatnot but i would guess if you had an entire free week it could be built...

well all together like lights, pumps, fans, filters, buckets, building supplies, ballasts, nutes etc. probably about 3 grand or so but bout 900+ of that is lights alone..

just for the building supplies...wood, screws, brackets, mounts, chains, tools, gutters, regulators, hoses and all that stuff was bout 1000.

it was a fun project and we will see how the yield turns out but i was debating before i started this project wheter to go this way or do a rotational grow. in the future when i get a house i plan on trying out some rotational grows as well as a few other methods i have been interested in.

I can't acknowledge that because it is VERY SIMPLE. With the proper tools it could be done without much trouble. One thing that could be used to do it is old Portable Blower Drum fans. Have a motor attached to a track to turn it and you should be able to figure out the rest. If you didn't want to attach a motor to a track .... you could weld spokes to one end of the drum and have a rod attached to a motor there. I could knock it out in an afternoon if I wanted to.

I am sorry man but I have designed & built much more complicated feats than this. Total Price under $500 easy.

gotta agree with potlike.. anything is easy if you have the proper tools and supplies.. yes it would be difficult to put together with a hammer a screwdriver or if you are not mechanically inclined.

off the top of my head if you had access to a pipe bender you could get some aluminum tubing and bend two halves into half moon shapes and weld them together or do something similar with rebar.. that would if you wanted to make something indestructible. or where i used to live there were construction sites that has industrial wire spools, some were up to 6 feet tall or more.. you could get the largest one you can find and cut out the middle piece and mount a cool tube there and either use a wheel driven design like the rotogarden or you could mount a large sprocket on the side and have it be chain driven and let it sit on rollers. you could also use metal round patio tables and cut off the legs like someone else posted then mount the cool tube in the middle..

theres plenty of differnet ways to skin a cat but like I said the main chunk of hours would be going into figuring out the method you will be using to skin the critter  (no offense to any cat lovers... hell i love pussy myself!) hope this sheds some light on the subject.. rage on!!
