I grow my own medical cannabis in Canada. I recently purchased a NugSmasher OG and absolutely love it, my yield has been pretty low with cured flower though between 8-14%, but the rosin is top notch.
I decided to run some fresher bud through and see if results improved so I ran 5 strains from my last harvest after curing the bud for 7 days. Nugsmasher was set to 180F which is on the lower end of extraction temps and I got between 12-18% return but over night 4 of the 5 strains went from varying shades of amber (I’m color blind so hard to describe colors haha) to green with a waxy consistency, not really sticky anymore.
The rosin/wax vapes perfectly in my DeBox Pro vape pen, been smoking it for a month in it. I decided to crank up my e-nail the other day and have a decent hoot. It’s a titanium nail with a quartz bowl, I set it to 600F which should be a low temp dab. I collected a decent sized dab of the wax and it just melted with very little vapor/smoke, bowl stayed wet but no vapor, very strange. I’ve tried at least 3 of the 5 with same results even at 700F.
My son wanted me to press him some rosin but all he has is a banger and this rosin would be no good to him.
Is the problem simply that the 7 day cure wasn’t enough, green color came from chlorophyll that hadn’t broken down yet? Did this cause the waxy consistency and the problems vaping on the nail? Or is something else going on here. If interested the strains and yields were Blue Dream - 12%, Gorilla Skittlez - 12.9%, Fruity Pebbles - 12.4%, Skywalker OG - 16.2%, Alaskan Thunderfuck - 18.7%
