Rooting hormones on seeds?

I have a bunch of powdered hormone and more clonex than I need. If I put a bunch on the stem of my early vegging plants that i grew from seed will i get more roots? (I'll cover it up with dirt of course) do the rooting hormones promote root growth even on plants that have roots? with this stunt my vertical growth at all?(not nessacarily a bad thing)

Your plant will start to grow new roots from where you buried your stem from

No need to add the rooting hormone , just wasting it imo
