In the past 2 months a friend and I have experienced root rot, we both had it in different degrees and we both went different routes to deal with it.
He had it bad, when he first realized it was root rot nearly all of his roots were covered in it. He went to the grow shop and got H2O2 and changed his water out using it in the next batch. It got worse, almost all of his roots that were sticking out of the net pots died. The air stones were getting clogged up by the slime, and the slime completely covered the top of the water. We did an emergency water change, rinsing the roots off in the shower. He started adding H2O2 every other day. The next two water changes he dunked the roots in a stronger concentration of H2O2 while I sanitised the buckets.
Now with the root rot almost completely beaten back, his plants are not merely surviving as so many people said was the best outcome, but growing nice buds. His leaves are showing no signs of deficiencies. His roots balls are beginning to get big again.
I was lucky and noticed it earlier than he did. I saw it on the tips of the roots of most of my plants, ran one water change with H2O2, then switched back to aquashield and earth juice mycorrhizae. It has almost all gone away and I only lost one small plant from it.
I'm writing this for all of the people that have root rot and are feeling down. If you have unlimited funds than it will probably be more profitable to kill off your plants and start new (depending on how close to harvest), but if you are like me and you are planning on this harvest to pay for supplies next harvest you can still win.
