Root Gathering

I have a quick question, I would have used the search feature but I wasn't sure what to put in for the search. I have a three big plant reservoir, 2 of the occupants being the same and on plant is a different strain. The rooting system seems to be pretty happy but the three have combined as most of you probably have assumed allready. Are there any downfalls to this? I know that if one turns out to be a male its really going to be a pain. But will this effect my yield at all?

This is my first project and im really impressed but I've been convinced to go with multiple individual bucket systems, because of the ease of dealing with each plant individually and the mobility. Anyone have bucket pics? It would really be motivating.

Thanks

Hey 7ech, hope this answers your questions! When your roots web together, it does not pose an immediate threat to the health of your plants, but your not out of the woods just yet. As you mentioned, if you have a male then it is out of the garden, which forces you to cut the roots. Now, if your plants are in veg then your root systems have a good chance of growing back before your flowering and will not make a difference. However, if you cut the roots during flowering, it will significantly damage your yields since root growth will be diverting plant energy away from flower production, and slowing the flow of nutrients into your plants!

I too am in the same boat as you, individual systems is the way to go :)

Make sure that when you cut roots tho (if you have to), that you have an agent to keep your system clean with all the dead root mass that will sit in your reservoir. An agent like sensizyme, hygrozyme, anything with a zyme will break down dead protein mass and keep your system clean in addition to helping your plants feed more efficiently.
