Root-bound plant flowering

Hello,

I am into my first grow. I have a plant that started flowering recently. Buds are beginning to appear. BUT because I did not know what I was doing, the plant is in a small pot and I think it is root-bound. The plant is about 2 1/2 to 3 feet tall and not large like those I have seen on this forum. I'm afraid the buds won't be that large. Is it safe to transplant it into a larger pot at this stage of the plant's development? Is there anyway I can get larger buds from the plant?

If your plant is deficient and root bound you should transplant immediately. It doesn't matter if it is in flower stage unless it has only a few days left. Giving it more soil will improve its development. Letting your plants root bound is a normal practice. When you get to know your plants you can tell when they stop growing. That's the stage when your roots don't have enough soil nutes left for proper development, which is when you transplant and/or give nutes.

When you transplant you will notice no new growth for up to 3 days. Just relax and toke for a few days them BAM it'll take off. You can make bigger buds by using nute additives like Beastie Blooms or any of the millions of other available. Be careful with these as most of them are very strong nutes, so apply at like 1/4 strength every other watering for a while.

You need to transplant I did the same and it stunted my growth terribly about 3 weeks no growth it was super easy to do I got 5 gal buckets for cheap and use those most recommend that size after transplant you should see improvement and have you read up on molassis I prefer sucanat though

Yes, transplant now... or make a bunch of clones and start them going is your other option.

If your going to transplant, make sure to rinse the roots out, and try to open the root ball up a bunch - with a razor you can make some cutting into them like you would if you were topping your plant, this will help promote it to grow some more roots a bit quicker... just make sure you got lots of perlite in the soil.

Thanks for your replies. I transplanted my plants into 5 gallon buckets. I then watered with 1 gallon of distilled water. Is 1 gallon of water sufficient? i did not see water coming from the drain holes.

I was also afraid to fertilize because I did not waht to cause any damage? When is a good time to fertilize the transplants?

1 gallon is ok. You just transplanted so the water needs will be light as the roots are shallow in the bucket for now. Make sure you let it dry out completely before re-watering. There is no need for you to fertilize yet. As its your first grow keep it simple and dont get to eager to add fertilizer. Good luck.

forgot to see if this thread is old... i searched on google... but distilled water is the wrong ph and will f up ur grow!!!!! use spring water!!!!
