Repot/ cutting nodes (pictures)

I have 5 clones and was told to repot into bigger pots now.
what size pot should i be getting?
and when i was told to repot, they said to plant it deeper and to cut off the bottom nodes and leaves.
what exactly am i doing in that situation??

1st. when transplanting, you want the size of the pot to reflect the time that the plant will be spending in it. 3 months equals a 3 gallon pot. 6 months = 5-7 gallon pot. and so on and so on.

2nd. the reason for "stripping" the bottom of your clones is to not waste energy on growth that will not produce a high yield, rather, divert the energy to the canopy of the plant, where most of the magic is happening. Also, cutting the larger fan leaves in half (Hamburger Style) will trigger the plant to produce a larger root mass. As far as planting deeper, it's a matter of preference and situation. Clones don't grow taproots, so they tend to grow wide root masses as opposed to growing deep down.

General rule is 1Gal of pot per month of growth. If you want to veg for a month and flower, then a 3 Gal pot.

Basically you are just stripping up the main branch(s) to allow some air flow over the soil. There are some added benefits when doing this in the beginning of flower.
It allows air flow over the soil as mentioned before.
Removes the 'popcorn' buds and makes trimming easier. This also has the benefit of more consistent maturing since lower buds tend to mature slower.
It makes it easier to spray if bugs need to be removed. I.e. mites.

The technique is often called lollipopping and there are a few youtube videos detailing it.

How am i supposed know how many months im going to be growing for?

very good ? first you need to take room height into consideration, then stretch of plant in flower. this will narrow it down to the height you want when put into flower. consider height of pot and dont forget the room the light takes up. hope this helps. dont get to frustrated, you will have this down in no time( couple few grows)...peace

Let me see if I can help a little more....There is going to be a basic correlation between time you grow and height of the plants that will tell you what pot size to aim for. Like suggested above think about how much space you have. I have been typically using a 3 gallon pot to grow a plant up to 3 feet high. So what that means for me is I usually veg. the plant under 18/6 or 20/4 hours of light for one month (or 4-6 weeks). Plant may be 12 to 16 inches tall at that point. When I flip to 12/12 and start to flower that plant will double in size (maybe even more than double) for another couple months and she will end up in that 2-3 foot range.. I would take my clone and through it in a 3 gallon and use that pot from start to finish. If you are trying to grow a monster and get more yield, then you could veg for two months, put your plat in a smaller 2 gallon pot and veg for two months, then transplant again before flower into a 5 gallon. The theory behind what they told you to do is bury the stem....you can plant her a little deeper and cover the stem if the plant has stretched. Roots will form and come out from that stem, your plant will appear shorter and stouter. Lollipopping isn't what they are telling you to at this point do but is another technique later on when you flower. If you do bury the stem (I do it depending on plant) make sure your not directly watering on the stem just around it. That also helps to get those roots to reach out searching for water and food in the new soil. Hope that helps!
