replanting in all new soil aka washing off all the old soil is this ok to do?

Ok heres a juicer of a question. The plants that I got from an acquaintance are all fucked up. they got mites ,nute burn and I just fixed the sun burn issue. The soil he's using is promix and im sure inside the pot there are little baby mites that want to pop out at their next opportunity ( diligently using dawn dis soap and water in foiler spray seems to be working). There are 9 inches tall and I stripped off all the fan leaves ( coated with mites all of them) except for the top of the plants. Some of the pistils on these ladies where even burned. Everything burned I removed except the top leaves which are now doing great by the way there is hope. The question I have is after two more weeks when they recover I would like to replace all the soil that guy was using ( because I am sure it is tainted with mite eggs) and complete wash the roots of it. Can I do this and If so how should I repot the roots. should I let them go straight into the bucket, or shall I bunch them up at the top so they need to stretch again? My English teacher would be appalled at my grammar and spelling, and sentence content.

Pulling the plants out and washing off all the dirt from the roots presents 2 problems. 1 you can damage the roots when you pull them out. 2 After washing off all the soil from the roots you will need to replant and will have to cram the root ball into a small space where before those roots have grown and spread out evenly. I would cut the pots off the root ball and shake off as much soil from the roots as possible without breaking it apart. Then transplant into new soil with a layer of DE on the top to prevent any future flies. As for the other mites and flies get some Mighty Wash and Power Wash and start spraying the plants. If the pests are really bad you way want to just start over with new soil, pots and plants. JMO and others will have theirs. PS people can and do remove all the soil from roots and replant without issues.

i would do it now before they hatch and hit it again put finges arond stem and turn upside down tap bottom plant and dirt should come out carefully put other hand on root ball or dirt turn back to nomal position dirt should start to fall off can do under running water to wash the roots off with out hurting them some times let them soak in water for alittle will and rinse dirt off alway hold root the dirt on them mite pull them off of plant other wise when all dirt off make a small hill in soil put roots around it carefully put more dirt in container start flood it with water to get rid of air pockets finish filling it up with soil flood again let litly compress soil to firm it up let drain put on tray onless it has one built on bottom of container put under light good to go

You have nothing to loose, and you could bring them back... I say do it!
Don't be afraid to F with the roots, and soil...
I don't know of anyone else using H2O2, this way... however it is what I use:
H2O2 in a spray bottle, I spray off the mites... I also use if I see too much green on soil top, the H2O2 cleans up small issues like this I have found...
Sometimes, Mites, even a little mold, can clean up with a couple squirts of H2O2....
Good luck...

This is Michigan not California so I am stuck with the ladies I got and happy to have them. I cant believe some of the pistils were burnt so badly from nute burn. Sets me back about 3 weeks for veg time but in the long run they will be healthier Ill just be carefull foijg it thanks fir the tips. Stuck using dawn till I can get new soil. The dawn actually seems to be working but I bet temporarily. At this point all I can hope for is 6 weeks of veg time before they go outside in 32 gallon buckets If I do 12/12 from the get go in may I should yield decent. I don't know how osome people can sell people mite infested shit. Glad I didn't pay for the plants with all this work.

I have heard of people using Neem oil or Spinosad as a soil drench to control pests in soil. I have no experience myself but some type of drench might help.

Think I will just do outdoor hydroponics in 32 gallon buckets solves the soil problem and this is Michigan they aint connesuirs. Also the back porch is great for this can fit 12 32 gallon buckets real easy out there, plus it would be way cheaper, and the outlets are close for the aerator and pumps. What size pump and airators do you guys think I need to pull this off?
