Ok so my plants are just starting there 8th week of flower now, im wondering if i can take all the fan leaves off to allow some light to get to the lower buds ? the plant has this week left to grow and then a week flushing will this be enough time for the bottom buds to ahrden up a bit ?? or am i too late ?

Any help will be appreciated !
Thanks !

Don't cut them off until after harvest. The plant uses the energy from the leaves to bluster the buds in the last week!

dont cut the Big fan leaves, she needs those,if anything the small sugar leaves around the bud are what u want to cut.It will take more than just 1 week for the buds to start getting denser.

I thin leaves over a whole grow to allow light penetration to lower buds and neighboring plants.
The rest of the leaves (fans included) stay on until it's been hanging a bit, then fan leaves come off and it goes back up. Sugar leaves come off after some time in the jars.

^^WTF? lol don't cut your leaves at all until harvest the more leaves and the more energy...period

I've heard arguments for both sides saying either cut or dont cut?? Ive heard that once the leaves are yellowed and wilting its better to cut them off so the plant doesnt waste any energy on useless leaves? What effect/benefit will leaving the yellowed leaves on the plant til harvest time have? I m interested to know cos mine has had most of her yellowed dying leaves removed.. Hope i havent harmed her??

If you can't pull it off easily, the plant doesn't want to let it go for a reason! That said, four days before I intend to harvest I remove all of my fan leaves, two days before I remove all leaves with no sugar. The last day Is darkness. I find that after this my buds are more covered in trichs, and are more potent. I attribute this to stressing the plant during these last days when growth has slowed to a halt anyways.

Don't lol. I trimmed every single fan leaf off my plant, aswell as some of the flowers leaves thinking it would help the lower buds get light, it did but it shocked the plant for about a week or so.. so.. not advised lol

plants do not make energy for the leaves. the leaves make and store it for the plant. when a plant is done with a leaf and removed all the things it wants from it the leaf will come off with just a gentle tug. that argument youve heard is very flawed. i do however know and will be happy to tell you what you should do. when you harvest dont take the whole plant at once, take your main done colas and leave the rest a week or 2. the leaves dying the last week or two is normal. it is the plant taking everything its had in those leaves and putting them into the flowers. its a big part of the final swell of flower where the buds gain most of their mass.

the amount of leaves a plant needs to produce big buds is strain related....

when the plant is finishing the flower cycle the leaves start to turn yellow with alot of strains... not all

That is because the plant is in bud production not leaf production and its takes the nutes from the leaves and using them for the buds....when they are yellow they are no longer helping your plant... they are hindering it.... using the plants energy where its not needed

Removal of the yellowing dieing leaves is a must....I hang whole plants too :)

Thanks heaps guys!!:bigjoint: Well i had a sample of my girl with 80% orange hairs and cloudy/clear trichs, quik dry ova few hrs and she was great.. really tangy/pungeant when bud touched, and nice feel, no harsh taste. Soil grow with basic organic nutes.. Nearly all big leaves are yellow tho she is still building a little, so ill give her another day n half then sum dark b4 harvest as suggested by Rascality Afoot, Good on everyone for contributingkiss-ass lol.. Talk soon guys

Thats what i thought.. And have been told. Everyone has different opinions, but due to varying setups, techniques n shit its hard to say whats right for everyones plant, also different strains mature differently and have different colors. So im with you, if they tug away or droopy folded yellow leaves theyre basically useless.. I leave green ones alone, and harvest according to each levels maturity, so prob leave few bottom branches that are green under light for couple more days to milk what ya can outta it b4 harvest. Thanks for your input;)

Na dont touch the flowers!! i only takin yellowed drooping leaves, maybe sum fan leaves, but thats over the grow not at once to allow light penetration as not a 1000w light!
