Hey Guys,

Running a 400w remote ballast and don't want to keep it in my grow cuboard. What are some do's and don'ts with these things? oviously they need fresh air as not to overheat. Is it alright to stand them up? I need to disguise mine and was thinking of turning it into a lamp!

Any inputs great thanks:bigjoint:

What kind of light/ballast do you have there? If you are DIYing this, I have heard it is not a good idea to run the cord too far from the mogul to the ballast. Also, get extension cord that has the highest temp rating you can find (that info is printed on the cord itself, usually 105 celcius is sufficient).

What type of room will this be in? You can disguise it as a lot of things, but you'll want to match it to the room.

Also, if the ballast is magnetic, it will make an audible hum and get very hot. I have a fan running over my remote ballast to keep it cool.

Mine say that if you choose to mount them vertically to do so with the fan facing up.

it is a 400w growlush. I believe it is magnetic but it is silent. there is no fan or cooling on it. Im running it in my bedroom, my tent is in the wardrobe. was thinking about standing it upright and turning it into a lamp :)

maybe think about junkin an old pc case and put them in it wth the old p.c you could snake out a few fansfrom the power supply to cool them and no one would think different !!

Good idea by UNICRONLIVES. I took a look at some images of the ballast, and it looks like you can disguise it in a bedroom any number of ways. I'll mull it over, you do the same, we'll se what we can come up with...

Dont sit your ballast on top of your grow tent, heat RISES

mm pc case wouldnt work for me (space, power/fans. Might turn it into a fake lamp with a shade and stick ram sticks too it
