Reflector help plzzzz

I need some serious help on getting my reflector for my 600w hps. I've read and heard tons of contradicting evidence about light reflectors. The guy at the hydro store has a Sunleaves Aurora(smaller is size with pebbled finish) and a Hydrofarm radiant(pretty big with a smooth matt silver finish), both 50% off. Neither are air cooled but thats ok because my room is so small....and the way it is set-up....it is not possible to run the venting to a hood. The area is only 27 in. by 3 ft. and 8 ft. tall. I have a 270cfm can fan hooked up to a can 33 filter. I figured that since the fan is so big it won't have a problem getting the hot air created by the light, out of the room.....Am I right? So then which reflector should I get...the Aurora of hydrofarm...or something else all together? If there is some other info that will help I will be glad to give it, and glad to hear any input on my delima.

If it were me I would choose the hydrofarm radiant, its bigger and most likely reflects more. But, it really depends on the shape/size of the area you want to cover and what you have room for.

Its 27in. by 3ft. and 8ft. tall. I only have a 2x3 tray for flood n drain. I guess my concerns are heat build-up and how close I can have the plants to the light because by the time all the stuff is in there, there isn't much room for vertical growth....which isn't a bigee because I plan to do a scrog or sog

Yeah... you are going to have serious heat issues. I have one 600w in a 3ft x 7ft x 8ft and it is hot as a furnace without proper venting.

Anyway, you are gonna need a rectangular horizontal fixture. I hope that clears it up a little.

Also why is height an issue? 8ft is perfect for full sized plants. You could jam 4 in there... might be tight though. If you can pull off SOG, you should totally do it.

Yeah but is it hot even with an oversised exhaust fan. I've got a 270 cfm can fan and my room is only 48 cubic feet or so.....plus I have an environmental controller. Height becomes an issue because the stuff is oversized. The fan and filter take up the top foot or so, then the light needs its space....and from the bottom I've got a resivoir, and the flood tray. It all added up real quick....once I got everything in there I was like "damn where did all that room go!!"
I'm still thinking that my fan(with the controller) will take care of the heat...does anybody know?

For you Id go with the aurora from sunleaves they are great penetrators and in that small an area would fit your needs perfect with heavy light penetrations so at 50% off your looking at $35 with taxes and thats a great deal as they are $69 without taxes new from sunleaves

Hey I was hoping you'd stop by! Do you think heat would be an issue with either? I was leaning more to the hydro farm one because it is bigger and I figured it would dissapate the heat a little better....plus it has a better finish. I just got off the phone with a couple of other hydro shops and learned that I should keep the lens off of the reflector if I'm not air cooling it. Does that sound right? They said It would build up more heat with the lens so I should keep it off. As far as you getting one....you can get which ever one I don't! There is only one of each, they do have a 400w mh/hps ballast for 50% off and an exhaust fan too. The deals are an in store only thing. I'd be willing to figure out a way to get it to you. You may even be close to it...depending where you live.

Sorry didnt get back to you faster..Yeah if your not venting the hood the glass can super heat and pop or crack..Its tempered but not shatter proof and when they shatter its a fuckin mess.I like the aurora and the hydrofarm but Im looking to grab 4 or 6 of the auroras and they make the aurora 6 whioch has 6 inch vent flanges and glass if thats waht you want. i dont like the glass as I usually want the heat from the lamp to heat my areas. They dont give me any heat issues but I grow in like usually 8x8 areas or 4x4x6 areas so heat isnt an issue..As long as you got some way to vent air in and out and a good fan blwong between the plant tops and the light heat shouldnt be much of an issue...Find the price on those reflectors see if they have an umbrella reflectors on sale lol

I ended up getting the hydrofarm. I did a little research on it and it claims to reduce heat over standard reflectors by 70% or something big like that. I'm happy I did. It ended up costing 80 bucks....as opposed to 160. The aurora's inner walls were butted right against the outer walls but the hydrofarm has space between the two, which will keep heat more under control. I probably could have goten either one because my exhaust fan is so oversized. Thanks for all the input guys.

Fletch...they don't have any verts on sale, and yeah the aurora they have isn't the "6"
