red hps for vegging?

hi there. can i get away with using 3x600 watt red spectrum hps lights for vegging my foot high cuttings? or should i really be looking into investing in some CFL or different blue spectrum bulbs?

You can, but you would be better off using an MH conversion bulb in your HPS fitting. Or you can rig up CFL or flouros for a month.
