Has anyone seen the RED cfls that you can buy at Lowes in the Christmas Dept.
These are Actual Red flouresent bulbs
like party bulbs.I was wondering if a person could use one or two of these for flowering/if not why?
why use those when you can get the same effect from a 6500k cfl... i had the same question when i started and never got a direct answer of why i shouldnt but rather a answer of why i should use the other... try it out if you have some and let me know... pm the result or post it.... i am curious and i hate to discourage a new idea, but i am leaning towards the use of a regular cfl... i didnt really want to waste the time i had put into my sprouts by using the red ones...
I think I'll put one in with my other 6500's and see if there is any change, they are really bright almost neon looking, who knows might come up with something new.
Aren't they just colored glass? When we talk about red and blue cfls we mean spectrum and color temp, not the color of the glass. I'd stay away from that and go with regular 6500k or 2700k cfls.
I understand about spectrum and color temp, you guys are probably right though,I'm just experimenting with one plant just to see if anything happens, if it freaks out,i'll let you guys know.
if its colored glass then you are loosing lots of light intensity just go with the 2700k if you want that red because the 2700k has that red its just blended with the rest of the light it emits
