  • Hey guys and gals;

2 months ago i thought i was ready to get down and dirty and bust my green growing cherry. I was WAY WRONG! Needed to figure out Ventilation system to keep adequate temperature and moisture in my Grow Room (closet.)

My Closet: L: 4'7'' x W: 5'10'' = 23.97 Sqaure Feet. So lets just say 25 square feet. With a height of 7 feet 10 inches. I will be covering my walls completely with Mylar and leaving my door Closet Door White.

Ventilation system: i bought two 6 inch centrifugal fans; one for exhaust with carbon filter and one for intake for fresh outdoor air. See pics for detail. My tubing goes straight out to the Roof. (note that i have 2 "The Speedster" motor speed controls for both fans, but no pictures.)

Lights: ONE 600 watt Apollo Lighting Kit with Metal Halide for Vegetative Stage and High Pressure Sodium for Flowering. I will also be surrounding my plants with 2700k and 6500k CFL's. Planning to use my 2700k's with the Metal Halide and the 6500k's with the High Pressure Sodium.

Now I have to Figure out SOIL! NUTRIENTS! WATER! SOIL! NUTRIENTS! WATER!

I want to grow Organic and have been looking at Roots Organics by Aurora Innovations. I hear great things about them. I've looked over their feeding schedules, Master, Player, and Soul schedules; link: http://www.aurorainnovations.org/feedingschedules.html

but this investment is really adding up. So far i've invested about $500 bucks on Materials and Labor. Do any of you guys or gals stand behind Roots Organics? But my real question i need answered is: What is the Best/Cheapest nutrient system/schedule i can follow? Do i really need all these products for explosive growth? what is the simplest/cheapest way to feed my plants N-P-K?

Also, i looked into FOX FARMS as well and their Feeding schedule seems a lot simpler and more economic due to less nutrients used. But i've read that Roots Organics blows them out of the water.

Please Help a Newbie out. Want to get started ASAP! Please ask me any additional Questions and I will be glad to answer them.

today is Sunday, 9:35 AM and i work @ 11am. So I'll check this back out around 1030 pm tonight.

Need to Bust my Green Cherry!

    Thanks in Advance.

    Sammy.

It looks like you have more than a enough for a good grow room man. I love the roots organic soil man, iv got it right now along with some coco and others. But iv also seen some buds grown in foxfarm and cant complain. But honestly id go for the local greenhouses man its half the price and they got just as good of stuff just not name brand, and they will help you out too, all the local greenhouses are cooler than shit especially the mom and pop ones i got a 1000 lumatek with a cooltube attatchmen and a brand new bulb hortilux 1000 hps for $210 and it even said on the top of the box valued at over $500 from one of these places you never know what youll find at those places plus you support a local business.

As far as organic nutes go,This is how i started growing over 3 years ago, iv since moved to hydro as well as organic soil. For the cheapest and best pack that iv come across is sunleaves international house of quano, its $30 and it has a step by step process for the weeks in the box. But what i do is take the peruvian seabird guano and grind it up and mix 1 tablespoon of it in with a gallon of distilled water, and feed just that for weeks 1 and 2 twice a week say monday water with it, wednesday dont, then again on sat or something like that. Then for weeks 2 of veg through until the end of the 1st week of flower, i feed it 2 or 3 tablespoons of the peruvian guano a gallon, depending on growth, and look of the plants start with 2 to make your way to 3 around the 4th week of veg and on into the first week of flower. Again twice a week every other watering also less water is more dont flood every watering water aroung the outside of the pot it will make for better growth of the root zone, better root zone = bigger and better plants. This shit works by its self all the way thru veg until the second week of flower with no addatives, I just picked up a 30lb bag, should last me a couple of years, a little goes a long way with the peruvian gauno. Then for the rest of flowering i just followed the chart that sunleaves provided you get mexican, indonesian and jamacian all in one box all for different weeks of flowering and then flushed with fresh water for the last 2 weeks and that was it. This is what my first run at some all organic chocolope i did back in 2010, useing nothing but the international house of guano. Iv used others but keep going back to the peruvian sunleaves peruvian seabird guano. Last pic is of the some of others iv tried and wasnt impressed with they all work but just wasnt blown away by the results, with exeption of the black diamond that seemed to do its job for what is worth

Thanks a lot for the advice guys. Will start doing some intense research this coming week. Also, i really want to visit a grow shop not far from home called the Brew and Grow: http://www.brewandgrow.com/

however, i'm afraid they will neglect my questions due to the fact that i'm growing Maryjane. I'm not going to specifically state that, duh, but what can i tell them that im planning to grow that has the same grow characteristics as Marijuana? Are grow shops like these the wrong places to ask for advice?

Any tips would be great.

Goodnight fellas.

No prob on the advice man, if i were you i would def check that grow shop out, i wish i had shit like that around me, damn. 90% of these grow shops are grower friendly and will help you with whatever you need. You never know the dude standing behind the counter might be a stoner/grower, iv ran into that situation more than once, and makes things alot more comfortable to talk about. But if not just say your growing organic tomatoes thats a good substitute for cannabis.

good work Sam! if you can return that intake fan and its controller it will save you quite a bit because it is really not needed. it can also create positive pressure causing smells to leak. you need just an exhaust and make passive intake. if you really want to use the second fan, you would be better venting if you use both fans as exhaust. also you really don't want those cfl's. in fact, cfl create more heat/w and less light/w than all other growlights, and they have very poor penetration power. they will only complicate your growroom add heat, cost, labor, wiring, and danger. btw cfls have mercury in them it is very dangerous if they break... if you need more light, use more HPS. felicitations on your efforts :D I really appreciate neat setups, keep us posted!!!

Awesome! Yes, Neat is the name of the Game! I'm very Anal about that. Also, about the intake fan; My closet is right next to my heater/furnace room and it gets quite warm in my closet, add the HID, the Ballast, My CFL's (which im now rethinking due to the information provided above) Pretty Freaken WARM. So i'm keeping it there Just In Case I need to cool the place down. Also, I posted this same Thread on the ORGANICS section and Mr. Cann answered one of my questions on Nutrients very well. HEre is the Link:
https://www.rollitup.org/organics/607590-nutrients-beginner-help-pics-video.html

Hope it gives you guys some more information on different Nutrient Options.

Enjoy.
