Rainy weather coming, how do you prevent overwatering? Could use suggestions.

Hey all,
I'm a newbie with this being my first plant. I've corrected the issue, but was overwatering her for a while. Yesterday was her watering and we may be getting a rain this afternoon. What, if anything, do you all do to prevent natural overwatering? I have a chicken wire enclosure over her already, should i just attach a plastic bag over the center to block as much as possible? I have something that can cover the whole plant, but that will potentially black her out at 2PM. Suggestions are appreciated, I'm nervous about leaving her be and getting too much water again. It seems like I've had one thing after another to try and adjust for.

If you have decent soil, you should be fine. Maybe move it under so trees or the side of the house?

Thanks for the feedback-I don't think I have high quality soil haha-just went with a MG all purpose garden soil-I do like the under tree idea, hopefully that will do this time around. I've got too many hungry animals in my backyard so usually the hard part is finding a 'blind spot' from the neighbors with enough height for my chicken wire fence.

Put a small see through plastic tarp over your chicken wire.
my pal done it a few week ago on here when we had shit weather,it seemed to work really well.

that's what I was thinking also-not like I have to worry about sun on a day like this. I just need to find a clear bag, mine all seem to be an opaque type plastic.

Yea the heavy duty see through plastic wrappers of pallets would work,u can buy rolls of plastic sheeting in most hardware stores.
Yea its not like itll shade em out the weathers meant to b crap next few days in u.k. its raining now in cumbria what strain is it matey..:peace:

There is no such thing as over watering, hydro plants are in water 24/7. The problem happens when you have bad or poor drainage. Use
chunky perlite, hydroton etc and mix in your soil about 40% or more and you should be fine

Yeah that's exactly the stuff I was thinking-I just tossed a regular plastic bag just over the very top for the moment. To be honest I have no idea what strain it is. A little while back I had a bag of some killer stuff that had a seed in the middle of a nug. When starting to germinate I had a total of 4 seeds-this one and three others from a different bag and this was the only one that survived. I wasn't sure if she would even survive this being my first time around and all. Although it doesn't seem like I'm going to have a huge yield, but the buds look good to me and I'm super excited about trying my first harvest. Waiting them out through drying/curing is goin to be an exercise in will power for sure haha. I'm hoping to cure for around 5-6 months, but we will see haha.

You want to block water from hitting your bud sites as well it's not just to keep your plant from being over watered ....wet buds are asking for trouble ....try to put enough plastic that your plants gets as little water on it as possible ...none would be best obviously

I appreciate that, that is definitely a good bit of advice to use. I found a decent cover at the moment-cut the plastic from around a case of water to fit on top of my chicken wire. The plastic is clear in most spots and thicker than the bags I have. I went out to check on her since the rain picked up and my original covering had a hole right over the top basically. Finding it somewhat annoying to have to keep worrying about so many environmental factors, be it bugs, animals, rain, and neighbors hahaha. Harvest can't come quick enough!

There is a reason for greenhouses! Outdoors can be awesome if your climate is mellow, but always a challenge and something of a crap shoot.

"Greenhouses" are work. Keeping the humidity down in them especially in u.k when you get four seasons a day.
Also stealthwise in the u.k
I thought it would be perfect conditions,far from it my seedlings i started in there couldnt handle the humidity it was going uo to 95% when the sun went down so it stumped them.
i had extractor and fans running on constant nothing worked plus neighbours could here fan @ nite.
I thought it would have been awesome:wall:

Seriously!! As prepared as I thought I was for our afternoon storm-I basically got spanked. I managed to keep her as dry as possible for the rain we had, but was outside makin frantic alterations as I got buckets dumped on me haha. I wasn't anticipating it being that heavy and ultimately tossed my grill cover over her until the storm passed. I'll definitely have some better tools at hand for the next rain.

I'd be happy as a pig in shit to have a greenhouse...or to even have 5 more feet from my neighbors on either side haha. Backyard suburban growing can make one a touch anxious haha.
