Hi everyone, i have a plant in my back yard here in portland, or. Its a healthy sizable plant for my first outdoor grow with some nice buds that are probably a couple weeks out still, they are beefing up but still no orange hairs.

There is rain in the forecast for about 5 days and i dont want to wait all this time for rotten buds so im looking for some advice on how to protect them. I have an easy up canopy that i could put over them outdoors...or it is in a 25 gal pot that i could bring in my garage and put grow lights on but im not sure if that would be too much of a change in environment for it? What do you guys think would be best....any other ideas?

The easy-up would be a good choice- I'd put some side skirting on it but leave a couple feet open at the bottom for airflow, maybe even a fan. Good luck with it!

Thats kind of what i thought but i wasn't sure if it would shade out too much light but also wasnt sure if my basic led grow lights would provide much more than diffused sunlight either.

You could use clear plastic for the top and sides rather than the opaque canopy, but there's not much sunlight when it's raining anyway.

I just put the canopy up and the top colas are pretty dark, will they still mature with dim light? Id rather not go buy clear plastic unless i have to, what about hanging my grow light in the canopy and run it from sunrise to sunset?

Do not put your light in that damp makeshift tent only bad things will happen

I bought my plastic at Lowe's for $10.98
4 mil clear plastic 10×25. I'm in Portland also. Just got my canopy up today. It took me about 30 2×2×8 boards and a couple boxes of screws to complete.

In the end it's definitely worth the money and time. Don't want the buds getting rained on. Last year we had a lot more rain up to this point in the season. As of now the only issue has been the smoke and ash.

It's 8' tall in the back, 7' in the front. Coverage all the way around with it being near the house. The roof overhang just drips on the plastic and it rolls right off. I'm keeping it open all the way around, for nice air flow. The rain shouldn't touch it at all, even if blowing in sideways. There's a few feet of extra overhang all the way around.

Happy growing.

Some healthy looking plants, my buds look about the same right now, hoping they bulk up a little over the next few weeks, they seem to be putting weight on quick.

I didn't think i had enough plastic but i found enough scraps around the house, one of which was big enough to make a solid roof over the top of the easy up canopy and then i used the rest around the sides with some air gaps and i am using a fan to ventilate it. Looking forward to harvesting my first outdoor plant.

Next year i am hoping to have moved to a rural property and i will have a dedicated hoop house for it that i remove the plastic from during the summer and put back on before the rains.

I would add an oscillating fan and keep it on 24/7... Be sure to inspect your plants daily.. It's bud rots favorite time of year!
